I agree with you about the radicals and the way to curb extremism is to deal strongly with the vectors of hate. Most are just ordinary people like you and me who want a quiet life.
I don't like to see the burqa as I see it as a means of suppressing women's individuality but most don't wear it around here. They are not allowed to go out without head cover though and one told me that when she tried it she received a lot of verbal abuse from taxi drivers and others.

When I catch the bus to the city centre it passes through an area where most of the women in the street wear burqas, and quite a few wear the niqab. Looks quite depressing, but then it's more or less 100% Muslim in parts.

I would like faith schools banned but unfortunately most if not all religions have them so it would be impossible to implement short of a totalitarian government which few would want.

Chelsea Girl I had to laugh at the Gruaniads coveage of that yesterday!

There was a political party meeting, and outside protesters rioting and getting lifted:
The grauaniad coverage was the that the party inside meeting were the FAR (political) EXTREMISTS,
but they put no adjectives on the reporting of the 400 people arrested outside, but we know
the RIOTERS were left wing, who wanted to stop a democratic party meeting.

So: people meeting in civlised manner in grauniad-land are "far right" but rioting left wing
extremists aren't "far left" or even labelled "left" at all? The party aren't a 2% party,
I think they were getting like 20% at elections recently?

Anyway, I digress. Personally I'm not happy to see the rise of right wing parties across
europe myself but given the attitude of the mainstream parties, it's 100% expected.
Europe is full now of arrogant politicians who treat their voters with contempt, and Merkel
is the worst of all of thenm, she's a nutter.
