Always it bread/bread rolls, but tend to buy at least half decent quality stuff, corner shop only had, well dunno the brand but you know the stuff.  Had a few slices of it toasted with scrambled eggs for brekkie.  It is ****g revolting, even when I toasted it.  Does anyone ever actually eat this stuff untoasted and make a sandwich with it.  I put the rest in the freezer for a (very) rainy day.

A lot of people must eat the stuff.  It is revolting.

Some places round here sell the low GI, bread with seeds, grains, spelt etc which tastes fantastic.

I know all bread is meant to be bad, but hey.

It can (with the crusts cut off) be moulded into a perfectly servicable cricket ball for evening matches.

I get a sliced white loaf from Greggs every Monday, the dog loves a slice of toast after his walk. All the 'poncy' bread upsets his stomach.

Not bad toasted plenty of butter on.

Sure, cheap white tastes decent enough cooled and covered in proper butter but the fact remains, IT IS PROCESSED POISON!

I bought a Warburtons loaf once and the phucker was just flattened dough. I rolled the middle of a piece up and threw it at the shed and it stuck like putty..

Report crags April 26, 2016 10:31 PM BST
They're probably skint and can't afford proper food, or drink for that matter.
Report Jack Hacksaw April 26, 2016 10:32 PM BST
No need to buy cheap bread.

It is cheap enough anyway.

So what about the thousands of people who have to rely on food banks?

Are they all scammers?
Report Coachbuster April 27, 2016 12:50 AM BST
scammers ?  what have they do to with food  affordability ?

a lot  of those that use food banks choose that way of life  rather than spend their money on food including a fair few drug addicts,ex offenders fresh out of prison, alcoholics  and sadly folk with mental health difficulties who are unable to function properly
Report Coachbuster April 27, 2016 12:51 AM BST
i know a fair few folk who use food banks  -  they don't need to use food banks but that's another story
Report crags April 27, 2016 1:02 AM BST
So your last comment relates to scammers.

Drug addicts can't afford proper food because they are skint, having spent all their money on their habit. So not everyone can afford decent food. Even people without a drug habit on a low wage can't afford decent food after paying for a roof over their heads and all associated bills.

yeah, cos theyre really going to miss healthy food  Laugh

those on a low wage  could afford decent food ,but they  choose to eat poor quality food because that's what they know /have got to like Wink

those on low wages that appreciate decent food CAN afford decent food if they want it . All a question of priorities

go to any run down council estate and see how poor folk spend their money.

and i'm not talking about £90 trainers , 85 inch televisions or  the latest smart phone - i mean food .

It's mainly convinience food , packets of this and that and so on .

Just look up the Chorleywood Process to see why supermarket bread is so bad. I remember reading years ago that the main requirement for a supermarket wrapped sliced loaf was whether it sprang back when sqeezed by the potential buyer in the shop as this how most people would judge whether or not it was fresh. Nothing to do with taste. In fact the blander the loaf the less taste there is for someone to not like.
Report zorrostrikes April 27, 2016 6:53 PM BST
you can squeeze the entire loaf down to one slice. it's all air.
