Just consider the chaps on here most troubled, indeed obsessed by the topic;

Wildmanfromborneo (middle of nowhere, Ireland)
Alun (Whales)
EO (Northern most tip of Scotland)
Ron Russian/CMAT  (Norfolk)

(Apologies to the other Big Cheeses on the Committee that I have carelessly omitted)

All linked by their rural location.

A German friend of mine mentioned to me yesterday that the Germans most troubled by such matters were those in areas with relatively few Immigrants/Muslims/Refugees/Pesky foreigners.  It got me thinking.  Perhaps she was merely refering to parts of the old East Germany where attitudes remained frozen for 50 years behind The Iron Curtain, missing out of several decades of evolution of related thought, gradual acceptance of diversity etc.

Or is there something more to it?  Perhaps the above Gentlemen deliberately choose relative isolation to insulate and protect themselves?  Or is it that they have been less exposed to their Bogey Men and their fear is partly fear of the unfamiliar?

Apologies if I have incorrectly drawn any nefarious conclusions about locales etc.  You are a considerable collections of wordsmiths, please don't retaliate en masse.  Just chew over the question in an abstract, detached fashion and see if you can find any merit or otherwise in the theory?

Good evening, Trillby.

When it comes to the speed at which one transcribe one's thoughts into writing and one's typing speed, best not to judge everyone else by one's own standards.

I've meet hundreds of Muslims in my life and never had one threaten me or make me feel that way, most people's fear stems from what they read and see in the media, it's called a tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny minority of extremists.

Yet none of them turned out in Glasgow last week to condemn extremism. Not one.
By:
scandanavian_haven
When: 24 Apr 16 22:18
They probably don't feel the need to condemn en masse what normal intelligent people can work out for themselves, that a tiny fraction of a religious group do not represent the other 1.6 billion followers.

a more extreme muslim would always have the upper hand on your
supposed moderate muslim if push come to shove - the moderate muslim
would just follow like a sheep - or face the consequences

Oh year, scandi?

Throughout history a small horrible minority have terrorised  others and the people have had to go along with such evil or be dead themselves.  Mao, Hitler etc.

It was a show of respect and condemnation of extremism for the Muslim (a member of a lower sect seemingly) shopkeeper who was killed Scandi.
Representatives of every other faith were represented but not one Glasgow mosque responbded. Yes a very small minority as you say. Nonsense.

He looks a nice bloke to me Trilby

Our whole world is moving to the extremes...we are very intolerant of each others values.

The other problem is our governments have allowed far too many Muslims in without asking us.

Some people think we have been invaded....and they have a point!

We live in more enlightened times, Annie.

I don't know aka, you would have to ask them to find out why then.

Of course extremist represent a tiny minority, if they didn't and the 1.6 billion Muslims thought the same way then there would be a problem, as it is, I will go to sleep tonight for 8 hours without worrying about a few stone age barbarians.

By:

that's the worrying thing though scan.

their religion is extreme - their prophet was extreme, it's a religion
of fear not peace - so they would all have to follow.

look @ the women ffs it just makes me shake my head when seeing the shuttle
**** coming towards you - anyone with their head wrapped up you know
is being guided by a barbaric guidance

Well it is what they have been brought up to Ron...it is what is familiar to them

No Muslim women in our society has to leave like that, or I would hope not!, it is their choice

None of the women in our society I have met have ever been that docile...they seem to take pleasure

in biting bits off me so to speak.....perhaps I would have been safer with a Muslim women, too late to change now!

I just wish our women would give us men a little more choice.

I have nothing against Muslims, per se.

It's when they start getting it on amongst themselves that I object to ... especially when they are casually invited into my (our) country and start taking over.
