I gave up smoking 1 year ago today. I had tried gum, patches & various other things. Went the vape route. Started on 26mg nicotine, then 18, then 12, then 8, then 6................ i guess you can see the direction of travel. Anyway just put my vape machine in the bin for the last time and for all time. If the gov taxes this for profit or fails to see that it is the only properly effective way of stopping nicotine addiction then it is very remiss. non smoker, recent non vapour
Well done northanlite, that's a great achievement. Remember though that even one cigarette can start the addiction again so don't ever let yourself be tempted.

thanks man. i tried one a few weeks ago it was revolting threw it away. no going back now. i'm not anti smoking as such, live & let live and all that. i was never a heavy smoker, maybe between 6 & 10 a day but i was addicted. my main point is that taxing vapes to same degree as ciggs would be a bad idea. If you want to quit it works.

The way the governments around the world have demonised vaping is easy to see. If they tax vaping to such an extent then smokers will have to return to smoking tobacco... and THAT'S where the big revenue money comes into the equation. Tax revenue from traditional smoking is dropping like a stone, which is worrying tax collectors. Aside from that issue, nothing will convince anti smoking campaigners that vaping is nowhere near as dangerous to the vapers or those around them compared to lighting up a cigarette. The amount of downright lies and misinformation about vaping is ridiculous. Well done on achieving you goal northanlite.

i very much doubt that vaping is anything but harmful long term but the range of toxins in tobacco has to be far far worse. even after a couple of weeks the difference in energy levels was striking and the morning cough goes in a remarkably short space of time. the good thing is the ability to steadily decrease the nicotine levels until you can quit easily. the only evidence the government need is from ex smokers who have struggled to quit until vapes came along. while maybe not ideal it has clearly been more effective than anything previous.
