I'd rather listen to his hits than Prince Wink
Witchita Lineman

Though the guitar solo won't feature on the solo thread.
That's a 6 string bass, long before them prog-metal guys "discovered" them 10 years ago.

My buddy , a guitar player , tells me Wichita Lineman is one of the most difficult pieces of popular music to play.

Absolutely wonderful songwriter and performer who always seemed to be really enjoying what he did.

The TV programme mentioned earlier on this thread really is a tearjerker

but the bloke is always trying to laugh or smile throughout.

Terrible for anyone to be cut down by this awful illness and the impact on family and friends devastating.

programme mentioned is actually on sky arts. keep an eye out for it. indeed, very sad. keep eye out for bbc4 on fridays though s they have a very goods rocumentary too about gc, from his beginnings in arkansas.

sixwotsix, concur, ive been told same by my nephew who has his own band, blues guitarist , plus was keyboards player in selector that wl is very hard to play.

Many years ago he was a much sought after session man but he could not read the dots. So the MD would go through the motions with the band and Campbell would make out to read his part. When the band struck up he would busk it. Wonderful chap.Laugh
