keep hearing about fishing boats sinking or completely missing. the most dangerous job in the world?
can anyone invent something to keep people alive in freezing water?
i keep seeing these on tv.. 2.6M Red Rope Inflatable Zorb ball Human Hamster ball Hydro(ebay). people use these for fun.
some quick inflating clear sheath/sack to seal yourself in? the cold water kills first. something that could be used as a backpack so it doesn't hinder work? small gas cylinder for inflation.
The death of three fisherman on the 9th of April when the Louisa went down off Mingulay was shocking ,a purpose built crab fishing boat ,not that old ,on anchor in calm water goes down rapidly at 3:45 am with crew alseep ,you know your lucks out when the auto inflating life raft fails ,two tried to swim ashore which was insight ,one made it . Distress beacon activated but by the time the coastgaurd got there ,both lads that were with the semi infalted raft were dead and one who tried to swim ashore was missing ,other lad was clinging to rocks. The worst of it is the water is not that cold ,between 5-8c ,a good dry suit would be fine ,but the ship went really quick . Hopefully we will find out what happened ,suspect the fact its a crab boat and will have a big tank ,maybe something went wrong with that side and boat flooded but just a guess ,boats have been dragged by subs before but thats often nets getting snagged . RIP the dead ,tragic .

twelve aint happening imo ,couple tops for someone under 40 maybe but depends on the sea conditions . there are good floatation suits but boat went down when they were asleep so had nothing on to insulate. 3mm neoprene would have been fine and they might have been ok if they were working and had proper kit on
