AMSTEL...On a nice sunny day like today nothing like it...crisp, clean and at 4.1% not to strong. 650 ml bottles @ Tesco for just £1.50.Where i drink ( Leigh -on-sea Peter Boat Inn) a pint of this lovely stuff is well over £4 a pint.
Back when I lived in Malta, a glass of Moretti while sat on the terrace looking at the Med was hard to beat. To be fair the alternatives were Skol and Cisk so it was near impossible to beat.

On a mission not to drink any beer "brewed" (lol) under licence ,imported or properly brewed beers only for me ,been trying a few UK micro brewries beer and some are ok but prefer a continental style lager now
On a hot day you cant beat a nice cup of tea tbh
Failing that a good British cider ,Bulmers nice and chilled crisp/dry and not to sweet and would be furst choice
Since the OP asks about lager it would prob be Singh or Corona but any imported beer brewed properly and not made by the teabag method would suffice .

Forgot about "Innis and Gun" lager ,best UK lager i have drunk bar none and very refreshing ,excellent imo but can be expensive The UK brewers need to get their act together on price ,all the big lagers seemed to be owned by the same conglomerate and i am sure they are tampering with the taste ,mingling it together to produce many diff products that all taste similar . Again mostly produced using the teabag method .

A pint of ice cold San Miguel on draught in a special San Miguel mug on a hot summers day is unbeatable.
I also love the small tins of Heineken and Amstel on draugh too.

I am a not normal lager drinker as I drink mainly wine, but I do enjoy a lager on a nice summers day if I can't get anything else. If in a good pub I would go for 'Old Rosie' proper draught cloudy cider.
However I do enjoy Kestrel sometimes, but it is tricky finding someone who sells it as it is a strong lager. So many shops now have the sign 'strong lagers and beers not sold here'. That seems ridiculous in a way as they are selling spirits and wine at far greater strengths. Now the nice weather is hopefully arriving I will have to make a special journey to get some Kestrel, it will make a nice change from wine.

It's one I seem to be wrestling with because I'm finding it difficult to translate. I'm reading which lager would you like and my translator is saying would you like an Englishman, American, German, French, Belgian, Italian or Dutch bloke to pi55 in my gob.
I suppose the answer to both is neither. Lager has to be drunk freezing cold because it tastes so ghastly at any other temperature.

I can't stand much lager including many listed above.
I did buy some of the aforementioned £1.50 Amstel, but it does not resemble the Amsel I remember from years ago. Very weak tasting.
I drink Becks 5% and at a pinch Kronenbourg.
Asahi is OK for a change, with a dry taste.
Estrella is OK.
Find Peroni a little sweet.
Had the misfortune to be away for a couple of days, with Carlsberg the only option. I will not go lower than Carlsberg and if Fosters is the only one available will drink out of the warm tap in the toilet in preference.

All draft lager in the UK is poor but canned is sometimes reasonable. Grolsch is my choice, in cans, and have found that letting it settle in fridge for a few days before drinking is best.

just noticed Special Brew and Tennants Super have been dropped from 9.0 to 8.0 abv, when did that happen
When you think that the last red wine I bought works out at about £4.50 a litre and special brew sells at waitrose for £4.15 a litre something seems to be wrong! The wine I bought is 13% alcohol, a lot different from 8% of special brew. Also red wine is considered among some health officials and doctors as beneficial to health in small quantities unlike special brew. But special brew is demonised and has restrictions on sale but wine does not. Go figure?

The reason why I'm into home brewing is I had a Dark Lager in a pub called http://en.ufleku.cz/ in Prague. It was almost black with a light head and looked like Guinness but tasted like a lager and it's the most delicious beer ever. If your ever in Prague visit this pub, it's off the beaten track but not far from the center, you won't regret going there.
Dead Pony Club (on sale in Tesco's) is a nice brew. It's very hoppy and has a powerful smell and citrusy taste. Not a session brew but very nice nonetheless.

Mahou that stuff is strong but too heavy and makes you sleepy, odd for Spanish beer.
People think they are 'classy' drinking that Peroni p1ss
UK Beer called "Freedom" is also very crisp and refreshing no funky tastes just goes down very well.

There are some UK brewed beers, pale ales, which can be served cold and similar to some lager.
I often chill pale, hoppy, citrus beers that I like.
Maybe real ale buffs don't like the idea of beer being served cold, but it is often a much better alternative to lager as there is more flavour.

You need to import it, but Konig Ludwig Hell is my current favourite tipple.
Other than that quite a few UK venues stock Paulaner these days. You can't really go wrong with that.

I used to like Oranjeboom which I think is still made and Lowenbrau. Allied Breweries used to have some sort of link up with these two, might have been brewed under license, but my dad used to get loads of it free as part of his allowance.

Saw an advert last night for the new Guinness beer. Anyone tried it yet?
Hop House 13? I'm not a fan of hoppy beers but it's OK, I've had it a few times. Hard to distinguish characteristics when there's so many different hops. They also brought out a Dublin Porter at the same time which is great on draught but not as good in bottles (you can buy the latter in Tesco's).

cant say i really appreciate the dark beers anymore but the history of brewing is very interesting, mention of porters got me thinking about wee heavies which i rem being told were popular when beer was dishwater and folks wanted to give it some taste and add some alcohol ,never seen a wee heavy or a porter in a bar for years https://madisonessentialsmagazine.com/Article/2016-02/Beer-Goggles.
