The best thing is to research the ingredients in everything before shopping.

If you go to M&S you can go to the gluten free section and get their gluten free Tortilla Chips for around £2 a bag. Alternatively you could go to the crisp aisle next to it and buy Tortilla Chips for around £1 a bag with exactly the same ingredients. Plain

If you feel better going gluten free. Then after a couple of weeks try eating some normal bread and see how you feel.
If you get a sharp reaction then that is some evidence towards establishing that the wheat has been making you Ill.

You still won't know whether you're sensitive to gluten or simply wheat, but you will have narrowed it down.

Of course if you don't feel any different then you can cross of wheat and gluten and look to something else.

Your symptoms must clear up completely before you reintroduce wheat back into your diet or the test won't tell you anything.

do the google research? i've turned myself into a scientist to avoid stomach pain. was a huge bread eater. eating a loaf a day. been off bread for almost a year now. had maybe four slices? in the year. looked up gastic paresis. cramps in stomach.
the Italians don't suffer from the same level of gluten intolerance because they drink red wine and vinegar salads with their meals. the wine and vinegar dissolves the glue of the gluten(found in barley, wheat, rye and oats)off the villi in the intestines. so drink some red wine(unless your stomach has an ulcer).

best advice is don't overload your stomach, break up meals into small easy to digest meals. try and eat single foods, avoid combinations. egg and bacon is two proteins that need different times to digest. adding veg to meat could cause your stomach to churn the stomach acid for up to twelve hours. As you age calcium uptake is lessened - you lose minerals galore. get arthritic. look into calcium citrate/kefir yogurt. pink rock salt. apple cider vinegar. zinc. seeds/nuts. fish oil.

chemistry course just to eat? can't eat like i used to..

i'm getting paranoid about the food that the big six food companies are making us eat? adding soy to everything. toxic oils and wheat strains that effect your gut. sugar and sodium levels through the roof. i honestly think they are trying to thin the herd.

I'd guess that a large proportion of people who are excluding gluten from their diets aren't sensitive to gluten.

Scientists believe everyone is Gluten intolerant. Its just that some can deal with it better. You might feel drowsy after eating bread to violent stomach pains. The glue component to Gluten ends up covering the VILLI in the intestines. this destroys the villi over time. the villi absorbs nutrients into your body. Only a third show signs of intolerance at any one time.

You could be eating quite healthily but by eating pasta with your veg you might be doing damage to yourself. Treading on water.

there is a wheat strain that does not affect your gut - einkorn the original wheat strain used for thousands of years has been changed by people over time.

That bloke they just interviewed who cut out gluten - he still looks knackered out.

One in a hundred suffer from gluten.

That's one in a hundred who have been diagnosed properly.
I wonder how many they have they missed, and how many others suffer in silence?

GP's are still operating in the dark ages as far as diagnosing food problems are concerned.
Report zorrostrikes April 22, 2016 7:43 PM BST
this tv show isn't gonna come out and say that bread is toxic?

why is soy flour in  90 percent of bread? - look up any bread making recipe. soy not there.

shouldn't all bread be made from einkorn flour?

it's cumulative - slow process over years. Drinking red wine helps. Vinegar. clears villi of glue.

Doesn't matter what anyone says, people will still believe what they want to believe. It's human nature and makes the quacks rich.

Those poached eggs definitely looked good MD and so did the soups.

Steer clear of bread full stop imo, I have for the last 18 days, and all of a sudden I have more energy and I feel like I can taste other foods even more so, I have an appetite for better foods, bread fills you up and weighs you down, not just your weight but your mood.

Also, as hound dog said...

I think bread clogs up your system and as you say many negative health related issues,it's a pretty unhealthy thing to put in your body, especially white bread. I like my coffee and toast in the mornings with a thick slice of white toast, and most days that is the only bread I have.

The fact is, the vast majority of breads from the big manufacturers are just slight variations, a little coloring here, a sprinkling of seeds there, but it's still the same extremely unhealthy processed bread. Although you could say inspired marketing, much of the ‘brown’ bread you’ll find in the supermarket is simply the same white bread with brown coloring, added back into it. Hardly the healthier choice it’s made out to be.

Likewise, ‘wholemeal’ bread with a bit of chemically treated wheat germ added back in, or ‘multigrain’, with a sprinkling of softened grains, hardly makes up for what the main ingredient – refined wheat flour – has gone through. So not really the healthy option ! And having been a baker for over 12 years I do know a bit about it.....

I've said the same thing about factory bread dozens of times on this forum. Look up Chorleywood bread process.
Don't eat factory made bread or supermarket bread which uses the same process, best of all bake your own.

This is proper bread made from wheat flour, water, yeast, salt and nothing more.
https://www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Crosta--Mollica-Pane-Pugliese-5-slices-Durum-Wheat-Bread/76194011

I buy it when I don't have the time to make my own. It's totally different in taste and texture to the big brand loaves.
