From the Tesco Finest range...absolutely delicious. The tastiest juiciest burger that has ever slipped down my neck.Last night we had friends around for tea and we all remarked how tasty these burgers were.My wife normally makes her own but after raving about these beauties she has decided to hang up her recipe book.

The fat content is a bit on the high side(30 odd%) but virtually no salt and anyway most of the fat comes out when cooking and gets drained away.Try em..you THEY WILL NOT DISAPPOINT..i guarantee it.

Yes, twizzle, they are unbelievably good.

I never usually buy beef burgers but had to get some to take to a bbq last summer and I bought some of these.
Report breadnbutter • April 18, 2016 4:04 PM BST
best making your own ,at least you know whats in them .

Venison still very underused ,wild meat ,allowed to eat what it wants ,lean and free from chemicals

there is a massive amount of deer in the uk ,they actually need culled ,red and roe in abundance .

Best thing a ever bought for the kitchen was a sausage maker ,paid its way several times over .

The best beef from the UK is exported and in return we get dodgy poor quality fare ,no one knows where it came from and no one knows what it was fed ,marvelous innit ,common agricultural policy (CAP).

Hang on, I might be lying. Just looked on the website and the Aberdeen Angus beef burgers are frozen. The ones I bought were fresh.

They might have been these ones
.
http://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=277102127

They were really nice anyway.
I sometimes buy Tesco Finest Aberdeen Angus Cottage pie. That's what made me thing the beef burgers were Aberdeen Angus, too.

I will buy some of the Aberdeen Angus ones for Mr Makybe's tea next Saturday.

Who needs to go out for steak when they can have beef burgers at home? Grin

That's spooky, Crisp. I like their pork fillet but haven't seen it for a while. I eat very little meat. Mainly just free range chicken.

Breadnbutter, outdoor bred means pigs are born outdoors and then moved indoors after a few weeks. Their mothers remain outside.

Ideally pigs should be outdoor reared. This means they are born and kept outdoors for longer, befire moving indoors.

You would expect outdoor bred pigs to have good conditions when they are inside. This is what Aldi tell us.
Report Makybe_Diva • April 18, 2016 6:23 PM BST
Thanks, Twizzle.
Report breadnbutter • April 18, 2016 7:29 PM BST
not a big pork eater but "outdoor bred" is just a horrible play on words by the  much maligned food industry .

Outdoor bred to me conjures up an idea/impression of  a natural breeding/birth in  wild type surrounds  ...alas the reality is not so natural ,most pigs are artificially inseminated but these outdoor bred labeled pigs are just taken outside to be born then back indoors ,really is a totally false and misleading statement ,the labels are confusing and change so often to mask what really is going on in intensive farming and of course their will be small print about bad weather ect ect .Consumers are now fed any old sh1t and some seem keen to believe it ,where a animal is born is important now ? more important than where/how it was bred and what it was fed ect .
a think we have had a discussion ,albeit short and convoluted on pig farming before on CC.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/media/advertising/waitrose-pork-ad-banned-over-outdoor-bred-pigs-2111632.html

looks like outdoor bred was a reaction to outdoor reared being called out for what it is .

People need to stop buying cheap dodgy food ,supermarkets have done nothing to improve the meat we eat imo,but ultimately its down to consumers ,hence the need to mislead and confuse them .
Report john92 • April 18, 2016 7:33 PM BST
Aldi also do excellent venison burgers
Report Makybe_Diva • April 18, 2016 7:38 PM BST
Yes, breadnbutter, you have to read between the lines of most meat producers claims.

Did you know that free range chickens must have access to the outside. But this need only mean that a huge shed stuffed with chickens need only have little hole in the corner for a chicken to be able to get out. Most of them would never even get to the hole.

I think maybe the best thing is to be vegan. I believe that we should be eating a mainly plant based diet. Making sure we are getting enough Vitamin b12.

I do go vegan, on a regular basis but fail miserably every time.
Report breadnbutter • April 18, 2016 7:40 PM BST
The more i think about it the less sense it makes ,take an animal from a controlled sheltered  environment and let it give birth exposed to the elements  ,makes no sense .

Born inside and then taken outside would be much more sensible ,is it to pacify the tree huggers ? i dont understand tbh .

Its a sad reflection of the smoke and mirrors society we live in ,you do they think they are kidding ?
Report Makybe_Diva • April 18, 2016 7:45 PM BST
I have just read the Independent article in your post, bnb. That is exactly what I was explaining in my earlier post.
Report Makybe_Diva • April 18, 2016 7:47 PM BST
Born outside and staying outside is best.
Report breadnbutter • April 18, 2016 7:53 PM BST
people must want to be conned imo ,the thought of someone reading a pork label and thinking this is good ,outdoor born and going home happy is rather disturbing .

wanting to believe its true is a fault us humans have developed ,needs rectified before its too late Laugh

yes MD ..born to be wild Laugh
Report Makybe_Diva • April 18, 2016 7:56 PM BST
Thinking about little baby pigs is giving me the urge to try being vegan again, or at least vegetarian.

I don't drink milk. Have almost no cheese, and all my eggs are truly free range. I'm almost there.
Report Makybe_Diva • April 18, 2016 8:01 PM BST
Yes, bnb, but someone buying pork from outdoor bred pigs is at least better than buying pork from pigs that have ben born in farrowing houses on metal floors, where their mother has no room to move. That is so cruel.
Report Burton-Brewers • April 18, 2016 8:56 PM BST
