PM cameron as usual dodges the point.

the more cash you make the higher the tax.
that's because if you make 4 million a year and get taxed fifty percent you come out with 2 million for yourself.

if you make £40,000  and get taxed  25 percent - you only have 30,000 for yourself.

zorro only lazy people, who are often silly could come up with such a comment.

Same as percentage increases in wages 5% of £200 is a fiver but 5% of £10,000 is £500 a
much nicer pay rise that's the cause of inequality over prolonged periods...

Yes but 500 pounds feels nicer if you are poor. The important thing is not what someone else makes, who cares, the important thing is does that 500 pounds extra mean anything dependent on the overall economy.

There is one good thing about poverty, 500 pounds is a beautiful thing.

I understand your point lfc, but it's tactless and amplifies the problem when people assume some are somehow more deserving because they have money.
Saying somebody who has little appreciates smaller sums more than those that have too much is like the argument I heard from the CEO of bright house on the radio the other day attempting to justify 70% interest rates on the buy to own washing machines sold to the impecunious.
He tried to make out that because the £5 a week they were taking (for years) that that was comparable to the poor person having to use a laundrette, which isn't the comparison that is apt since what they are doing is 'selling' a product not a laundry service.
It's about the purchase of a product to wash clothes, so the comparison to be made is the amount they charge for the sale of the product.

I find the logic here is that greed has to be addressed in the human.
If a person is given an environment with which to prosper in (at the detriment of others) then they have a duty to provide a greater % back into that system.

To the OP.  Avoiding tax is part of getting rich.  If it's legal then it's absolutely fine.  You should be slamming the tax laws rather than the people using them to their advantage.  Especially as this is a gambling site.  Tax avoidance is perhaps the most similar work related skill to successful gambling.

I'd rather be a clever scheming tax avoider than a self righteous preaching hypocrite myself.  Although these are not mutually exclusive characteristics.  Most people will be both.
Report dustybin • April 12, 2016 9:44 AM BST
i always smile at the argument that those who highlight injustice while doing well themselves are being hypocritical.

Non of us chose to be born, and not one of us alive shaped the money driven society in which we find ourselves.
Whether you subscribe to evolution as a theory or creationism the constant is that money and business were man made inventions that control the masses.
If Diogenes lived today the daily mail readers would have thrown him to the wolves as a street begger and missed the point that he gave away all his possessions.
Instead today the malevolent greed machine drags in all who are virtuous and those that exist by beating the system at its own game and expose the problems are lamented.

Makes me p155 my pants.

2 women at my wife's work asked for tips from me for the GN.  I said go on to Oddschecker to see who is giving the best price, bet ew and make sure you get 5 places, and place the bets at 8.30 to 9.00 on the morning of the race.  I tried to avoid giving them names, but that was all they were interested in, so instead of dressing them up as tips I just said I have backed these 3 horses.  One of them happened to be Rule The World, luckily for them, as it was the first time I had the winner since 2003.  One of the women followed the actual tips and took 50/1, and got 50% more than the one who didn't.  I respect the one who took the advice and got the best return more than the one who couldn't be bothered.

I'd have told both to not bother as gambling is degenerate but then that's for another place.....

I met my wife in 1990.  At that time I was a young betting shop manager and had backed Mr Frisk at 33/1 for the National.  My wife and her then boyfriend were regular poker players so they had an interest in gambling.  Shortly after it won, she asked me who I fancied for the 2,000 Guineas and I said Tirol, which was around 8/1 or 10/1.  Her then boyfriend said she was a mug and laid her the bet Laugh  A few months later she'd ditched him for me.  So most of my life has been shaped by the GN.

For better or for worse? Laugh

I gamble but I'd never recommend it to anyone, I only bet IR on exchanges and learned at the right time when you could make mistakes and not get cleaned out by an algorithm.
I've seen many come and go and the majority lose a large sum that goes to the few.

I pay 40% here.....but it doesn't go to the treasury. If the treasury is lucky it gets 15%

Boris earned 620k----tax 275k

his tax is 13 years my wagesWhoops
Report zorrostrikes • April 12, 2016 9:23 PM BST
so Boris if he avoided his tax would get £620,00 instead of £345,000.

He needs to get a tax advisor, previously who worked for HMRC. Someone who used to advise on changes to the tax rules ideally. Is there such a man?
