At least Putin's Useful Idiots get a cheque from St Petersburg (with a Panamanian postmark, we now know) for posting sh1t like this. What do you Useless Idiots get?

Mind you, judging by the never-ending series of messes in which Putin keeps landing his country, perhaps even the little twerp in the Kremlin himself believes the b0ll0cks he broadcasts on RussiaToday and Sputnik.

Georgia, Ukraine, the South Stream pipeline, the collapse of the Rouble ... has any leader in history ever been able to boast such an unerring record of ongoing failure?
Report treetop • April 8, 2016 9:05 PM BST
Useful idiots ? Have you got a brain, try using it mate. Putin has more nous in his little finger than Cameron and Obama put together.
Report screaming from beneaththewaves • April 8, 2016 10:58 PM BST
Putin's record so far:

Invaded Georgia. Annexed Abkhazia and S Ossetia and has had to subsidize the economically barren provinces to the tune of $20,000-plus per citizen year. Not that the citizens see any of that, as the subsidies disappear into the hands of local officials, hence the need for perpetual and greater subsidy.

Annexed Crimea, over which Russia already had harbour rights guaranteed by international treaty anyway. Crimea has no fresh water or electricity-generation of its own and relies on deliveries of coal and piped water from Ukraine. The region has become an even deeper money pit for Russia, with conditions on the ground desperate, as the local Tatars are easily able to sabotage the electricity lines.

Invaded SE Ukraine to try and link up with Crimea. Stupidly believed his own propaganda and thought the Russian-speakers of Odessa and Mariupol would welcome his troops. Found out otherwise and is now stuck in Donetsk with no way out. Meanwhile has destroyed the infrastructure of the Donbas and turned it into yet another bottomless money pit.

The customers for his gas are cheerfully seeking new supplies amid the world energy glut and he has invested precisely nothing in diversifying Russia's economy to prepare for this. His currency's trash, his crony corporations have lost access to the capital and western expertise they need to keep the gas and oil flowing. He's been reduced to signing a deal with China to sell gas at cost, but even then only if he can find $50 billion he no longer has to build the infrastructure.

Putin is an ignorant, blundering dupe who in a civilized country would never have risen above his former job of collecting cuttings from western newspapers as a clerk in the KGB.

any proof ?

He has pledged to support Russians living is former parts of the old Soviet Union...

That was why he was elected. Crimea was 97% Russian anyway, it hardly belonged to Ukraine.

The mistake was Gorbachev's in allowing the old Soviet Union to break up, Putin is trying to repair the damage.

Anyway the West is putting economic pressure on Putin through economic sanctions. They are hoping the Russians will stop

supporting Putin, I don't know if the West will succeed or not.

I like Putin. His only interest is in protecting Russians, nothing else, but I appreciate Ukraine is in a difficult position.

I also think Putin does not want NATO missiles stuck on Ukraine's eastern border, I do not blame him for this.

I do not wish the United States to rule this World.

Everybody to their own choice, fair enough akabula.

The United States pushes it's appalling capitalist system on the World, this will never create a fair World or

solve our problems in my opinion.

His only interest is in protecting Russians, nothing else,

protecting Russians from what?

imo his only interest is enriching his clique and entrenching the myth that he is a great leader.
Report ebulGery • April 9, 2016 11:50 AM BST
protecting Russians from what?

He is protecting Russians who live in countries that are no longer part of the old Soviet Union.

Allowing the Soviet Union to break up left a lot of problems...a mistake in my opinion.

He also protects Russia's interest as well, he is consistent on this.
Report ebulGery • April 9, 2016 11:51 AM BST
What do our leaders do, crawl around after the United States and do little to protect our own borders.

Report ebulGery • April 9, 2016 12:03 PM BST
Pure allegation?...

The United States assisted by us has done far worse in the Middle East, look at the body count.

Putin protects Russia's interests that is all.

The United States supported by us protect their own or their client state?

It is his job as leader of Russia to work in the interests of his own country, I only wish I our leaders would for us.
Report treetop • April 9, 2016 1:18 PM BST
The Ukraine is a disaster made by EU and NATO trying to drag it into EU influence, Putin merely called their bluff and showed the West up. He may not be a nice person at all but he clearly supports Russians first before Islam and Brussels. Our lot should try that approach some time soon.
Report ebulGery • April 9, 2016 2:34 PM BST
well said treetop

Our lot have so screwed themselves with ideology they have forgotten that the first rule of any Government

is to govern in the best interests of that society, not anybody else

The proverbial in a brewery sums up most of our governments, whether right or left.

Have you approached any Russian Ambassador about this aspiration?  My guess is that they'd potentially be interested in helping you, if only for propaganda reasons.

Russian folk travel everywhere these days, so you should be free to come and go as you please.

And with the availability of the World Wide Web and cost of telecommunications being so low, it shouldn't be too difficult to get your bets on via third party if needs be.

Why not 'go for it', then tell us all about your adventures?
