I started aerobics in the nineties. then -  I used a stepper for an hour a night for a year. then - I ran for twelve years every second day. five miles three days a week. eventually losing weight from fifteen stone to eleven. it only took 14 years. Then I gave up one day and ballooned. my will power was gone. I tried calorie counting for ten years. just as a way of controlling my weight. I hit twenty stone three and saw myself heading for thirty and said no way.
tried eating pasta limiting my calories to 1200 a day. i lost something but would yo yo and return quickly to my heaviest level. my will power was nil.

I found a guy on youtube(eric berg) - this is the shortcut - but it has a sting in the tail and you should be wary about it.

I watched all of his links. it comes down to dropping all processed foods. no sugar. no carbs. I feel all my fat dissolving away revealing all that hard labour i did in the past. muscles are firming up and I'm feeling bones I never knew were there. But.... I find my stomach has returned to a primitive man stage. My friendly stomach bugs the friendly bacteria in my gut no longer make the enzymes to digest bread, biscuits? milk? loads of stuff. I've been too stringent for too long. four to six months on this low carb regime should be the stopping point. or five days a week and two days off to eat refined foods.
My body is now geared only for meat/fish and veg/seeds. I hope I can reintroduce all food groups into my diet. small morsels at a time. the gut flora are ruling my diet at the moment - but the results are amazing and frightening at the same time. It's an accelerated diet. I wish I had done it sooner. But be warned your gut will hurt if you exclude anything absolutely. google - exclude carbs stomach pain. before you start. its a double edged sword.
don't exercise - it's not needed. light walking or swimming.

i was always heavy - still am. but i've lost four stone in eight months. no daft exercise regime. I'm too old for it.

Simple. Stop eating produce that has wheat as an ingredient. Don't need to do anything else.just be very disciplined in sticking to zero wheat products.

I find it odd how most 'experts' tell us exercise leads to weight loss.

I used to believe it but not anymore. Exercise/hard physical work in my experience tones muscle, makes one fitter and more efficient at using available calories thus leading to LESS burning of calories and weight GAIN.

If you don't exercise at all then do some, it must help for a while I guess.

Interested about giving up wheat FACTS. What have you replced it with?

After lots of trialing of foods recommended by dr eric berg(youtube) -

dr berg mentions these foods

large red/green salads (little bitter) for potassium content - stops sugar cravings. I think it also gives you micro nutrients and amino acids.
oils/butter - society has made these villains but its a lie. we need oil to take the vitamins out of salads.
seeds. nuts.
fish and meat - more fish than meat.
offal - i get lambs liver once a week - big pack costs under £1.50. nutrients in it.
kefir - a weird homemade fizzy yogurt. i actually eat this. from snickers to kefir?
cheese if your stomach can handle it - in salads. i miss this.
eggs. two a day.
no large slabs of meat - small palm size portions - activates fat burning hormone. fish better.
organic cider vinegar. vitamin c source. just as a dressing ingrediant.
lime juice/lemon juice - vitamin c. two capfuls in water a day.
bought calcium citrate for bones. calcium depletion a real worry.Calcium carbonate to be avoided... it's a risk.
peanut butter - i would eat the jar so i dropped this. but at the start it helps you over the hump.
pink salt - iodine and 80 micro nutrients. snapped up half a dozen in the poundshop. expensive stuff at £4. i got at pound.

avoid fruit - loaded with sugar - once a week maybe.

today i'm having tinned mackarel/sunflower oil and salad with seeds thrown in. later i'm eating mashed potato over a salad with a small amount of shredded meat in it. I will maybe eat again a snack of seeds and coconut oil salt.pepper and vinegar.

watch dr berg's acid alkaline diet video - its a good place to start - forget calories. bbc is pounding it out today. spend some time getting the gist of the reasons for eating healthy. don't buy the pills he's offering. American's are always selling something. micro nutrients. he explains its a diet about health not losing weight - i agree on that.

if you try it and drop off the wagon. just get back on it later. I had a massive spell of seven months on it then jumped ship at Christmas. started again at end of January. two weeks in you find yourself in the shops looking at pizza and chocolate like it doesn't exist - weird. no more white man's poison.

but watch out - although all your muscles start to bulge, like the hulk in transformation. inside another equally weirdness is happening. keep an eye on it. i'm very wary about this diet - it works too well. Your body 's bacteria loves sugar. by avoiding it you are travelling back in time. Like a paleo diet. you might not be able to go back to the 21st century diet.

positives - your pancreas takes a break, you firm up, you lose weight, your flexibilty increases.
negatives - calcium a real issue. i can't eat dairy or bakery goods anymore. I don't know if this is down to the diet, no proof but i'm very suspicious about it.

i bought vitamins from poundshop - but i seek out strange foods with micro nutrients when i can. spinach(raw) celery, turnip, turmeric, tyme, oats.
you end up turning into a health nut.

i figure this or a variant is what the movie stars use to get shredded for the action hero parts.

this is a weird diet - a double edged sword. once i reach my target weight i'm off it. it is scary.

It's all bollox. If you think you need a diet then think again. Diet's usually end in failure. You need a change of lifestyle. For the vast majority of people losing weight and keeping it off is perfectly feasible. It just takes some consistency and will power. Which is why so many people get fat and stay fat. Nearly all of these diets seek to portray one or other food group as the enemy in order to differentiate what they are selling.

If you want to lose weight and keep it off eat a healthy balanced diet. Use up more calories than you take in. Have the occasional treat. Keep well hydrated. Exercise does help partly because it uses additional calories and party because it raises base metabolic rate. Again the problem with fatties is they think if they do some exercise it then allows them to eat a family KFC or bar of chocolate. Wrong again.

this diet - restores will power. cravings are banished. because the body gets potassium. you crave sugar because your body thinks it will get the potassium from it. If you were a fruitarian you'd get the potassium naturally. but the sugar content hits your pancreas. the large amount of bitter salad with purple leaves gives you that potassium.

will power is a fleeting thing. refined foods are going to nacker you eventually. Diabetes and weight issues.

i do need a diet that works - this does it - i'm not making a penny by sharing. I'm amazed - there's no whey powders at £20 a tub. no high expense. i've lost four stone. i'll reach five by june. this is not a failing diet - its a lifestyle change. it introduces you to nutrients. to another way of eating. calories are irrelevant. if a food is suspicious... in a wrapper dont eat it.

I find it quite fascinating.

Not sure I need to lose much weight but maybe 6-8 pounds.

I can skip lunch, have 5+ hours exercise a day and my weight stays the same. I can eat more (so the normal 3 meals a day) and I can lose a little.

If I have an idle day, my weight is often the same as if I exercise all day.

Being fat is now the norm.  Being fat pre 80's was a novelty. Nobody went to the bleedin Gym in the 60's so how come they weren't fat?  This boolocks about exercise just gives people an excuse.

Trust me if you don't eat you will lose weight. You don't need to over complicate it messing about. Just eat less. Exercise will accelerate the weight loss.

It's true, cut wheat out and the weight drops off.
Report Eeternaloptimist • April 7, 2016 7:15 PM BST
For a very simple reason Baron. Most people did manual work of one form or another. It's why the recommended calorific intake for men used to be 3000.

That and the fact that virtually everybody ate home cooked food and not the processed rubbish containing loads of crap especially sugar which passes for many peoples meals these days.

baron - how many pizza leaflets came thru your door in the eighties. chocolate proliferated more in the seventies. Coca cola wasn't as huge as it is today. Convenience food has exploded. MacDonald frys has nearly twenty ingredients. its potato and oil you need? nothing else. We have departed from real food. Adulteration is what the food companies do. making food stretch for profits. your mom if she makes homemade burgers makes big ass chunky burgers. MacDonald's makes a skinny suspicious burger. Its tasty but you know its not nutrition.

lost another three pounds this week on this fake bogus nonsense. only exercise was a swim.
love this ****. All my muscles are heating up? can feel the burn. can you get roid rage from eating salad? moobs turning to pecks.
this dr berg guy is on the money. Only real danger is the possibility of taking it too far.
excluding foods totally is a looney thing to do. you have to step back at least once a month.
