big diet secret - this is it I gave up on dieting. Could not stick to one. the junk food had me as a prisoner. tried calorie counting for years. lost weight but quickly put it back on.
i noticed My left eye was switching quite a bit so i decided to google it.
Found a man on youtube (dr eric berg) his diet advice is amazing. but he also does other stuff to make cash, like us all. I ignore him when it comes to his advocacy of acupressure.
i looked up acid alkaline types = if your left eye twitches/flickers and you have trouble digesting orange juice... fruit. you are probably too alkaline.
anyway i followed his diet advice. have went from 20st 3lb to 16st 01 as of yesterday - 4 stone in a year. I have never stuck to a diet for such a long spell. i lapsed for a month at christmas which put me back quite a bit. but returned to his diet in february.
his diet isn't about losing weight - it's about restoring your health. He explains that your body craves sugars. Once you reach a certain age 45-50 your weight will be very hard to control due to three hormones. insulin being one. when you eat sugar or carbs(which turn to sugar in the body) your body burns these first so you very rarely dip into your body's fat store. the body is really looking for potassium from sugar? which it doesn't get so cravings for more sugar hits you. you reach for bread, pasta and rice. All of which will keep you fat. you get potassium from dark leaf salad leaves (bananas loaded with sugar).
so i usually eat a huge bowl of greens with mackerel or any other protein like chicken. seeds. veg. peanut butter and oils(butter/coconut oil... lard)
all carbs are excluded - fruit is reduced to once a week as a treat.
if you fall off the wagon - its a good thing. just get back to the diet when you can. don't blow up and give up.
the diet is a lot like the banting diet - but dr berg explains why this works. I think you see why you eat crap. the psychological hold food gets on you.
don't eat masses of meat or take loads of protein. it will give you kidney stones. so about a palm size portion is enough in a meal.
I don't have a twitching left eye and I'm not overweight. But as health and fitness is a major interest of mine, I am always looking for ways to improve my diet.
I have looked at a video of Dr Berg on youtube and have learnt something new already!
I have just downloaded three of his books from Amazon, for a total of £11.70 ( a bargain).I look forward to reading them.
So thanks for posting, Zorro. And well done on your weightloss

i should claim the guy for a kick back. sales man for dr berg.
there's a huge amount of him on youtube. for free.
i watch them regularly. must have seen them all even the ones for women.
i tried the acupressure and it backfired so i steer away from that.
but his diet is sound.
I would not buy any of his products though. can't afford any of it.
but you can find a lot of his recommended nutrients in natural foods.
i found pink sea salt in the poundshop? i eat pumpkin seeds for my bad back - add coconut oil and salt and pepper to make it taste better. (home bargains sell coconut oil for £4) peanut butter was one of his tips to help to eat salads. mackerel for calcium. cheese in salads - but i'm a bit intolerant to it. lamb's liver for iron and other micro nutrients. - once a week.
turning into a fitness instructor.
i don't really exercise - go swimming twice a week. the odd walk.
you lose an average of two to three pounds a week. and you eat well.
you find you lose the cravings if you eat the bitter salads.
