Concur with all comments on the train journeys series. Excellent programmes, both the UK and the continental ones. They could have been very average with a poor presenter, but he pitches it perfectly for them.

just saw the rising programme. Did Portillo really think sending soldiers into battle to 'take no prisoners' was somehow ambiguous or some sort o British slip of tongue . I cant imagine a use of words that is more succinct in their meaning.
