The template is always the bloke looking an utter moron while the woman is the 'savvy' clever one.
This has its basis in the fact women spend the money.

But it doesnt matter what the excuse is, its still sexist to men.
Can anyone think of an example where the man comes out as the clever one while the woman looks stupid?

They have absolutely no excuse when they arnt even selling anything, like the weather app on the BBC.
There are a man and woman in their individual back gardens, the sun shining on the woman yet next door is the idiot man stood under a rain cloud and not even got the sense to put his hood up ffs.

There would be an outcry if it were the other way around.

Not quite on the same tact but most company's who advertise these days bend over backwards to show how wonderfully multicultural they  are. There is one on at the moment that show a couple(girl white, man black(nearly always this way around) )sitting on the sofa deciding what to have for nosebag.Santander do the same with a group of white girls and black lads all mucking in to decorate a flat. They must think we all came off the banana boat.Tongue Out

yes, they do do that.
But that doesnt attempt to gain out of the expense of making another look stupid....which is what happens when advertising is aimed at the purse of the female.

I so agree Dusty

Women must known be shown as the strong ones, the clever ones and the capable ones.

Men are shown as the weak ones, the stupid ones and the incapable ones.

It is a tribute to Women they have got Men to believe this guff and even I have a female friendShocked who does

exactly this to me, and she gets money out of me for doing it as well.

I fear for us men, will we suffer the fate of the Dinosaurs?

Oh I think all the while 95% of the boardrooms of the FTSE 100 Companies are populated by men, we'll probably struggle on for a few more years.

Yeah Ive seen that there is an attempt to reverse that also.
Its rather silly to suggest that within a backdrop of opportunism that enterprise act as boys clubs and not ones of attempting to make the best return possible however.

The Tesco advert a perfect example..not one but 2 thick as mince men,the cretin husband and the moronic son.

Thing is, any self-respecting bloke would laugh at it, go 'yeah but come back and talk about what a sad act I am when you want a spider removing from the bath' and move on -  not whine like a little bitch in a newsgroup populated by loads of other blokes.

Theres the window vac one where the guy is the Luddite slow one where the woman is switched on and completes the task with ease.

Infact that is used so often its a cliche.

Yeah I do.

It's a fking advert! You really care about something designed to part you from your cash ASAP THAT much? Well clearly you do.

Carry on pointing out the bleeding obvious to an audience (I'm guessing) consisting predominantly od head-nodding other blokes though if it makes you feel good.

Otherwise high-five me whilst celebrating just how great it actually is to be a bloke in this society! Well, apart from if you're ebulgery of course who sounds like he's had his cojones surgically removed via his wallet.

Its highlighting the levels of indoctrination if pressure groups can only exist on one side of the argument.
You could say the extension of the bloke in the advert is the epitome of those who are cowed into not highlighting such positions.
By:

When: 29 Mar 16 17:04
You could say that....and then you'd look at who runs countries, multi-national corporations, religions in fact pretty much all of the institutions of real power.

Then you could look between your legs, realise you're actually a member of this club and by the time you look back at the telly, the indoctrinating message will have finished and that repeat of Baywatch will have started.

All of those examples are being eroded away back to the equilibrium, some faster than others.
While this isnt about defending the age old position, it is about highlighting the barrage that exists where as you insinuated the man is believed to 'be a man' in accepting ridicule.

Where infact Id suggest the opposite is the case.
The man who simply accepts this has he bollo x contained within a woman's purse who trades sex to keep him suppliant.

Whats that got to do with anything?

Ads should reflect the way things are not try and convince you otherwise.

Of course reality doesn't sell so a fantasy world must be created which is patronising to women.

Have a look at the ads from the 60's and 70's to see how things have changed...and not...still defined roles for men and women.
By:

that lynx advert would have been impulse for women
now the very suggestion that a man chases a woman would have you getting questioned down the nick

....but ofcourse female carnal desire chasing men appears a joke.
henry Caville broke rank recently and said he experienced duplicitous sexism as women would proposition him infront of his girlfriend

Even better, get the sisterhood running women's magazines to  criticize the way they look, their size, shape, what they wear, their sexual desires in fact everything about their fellow travellers.

Blokes don't have to do a thing.

Just watch a pretty woman enter a room and wait for the bitchy comments to start.

Just ask yourself whether you'd rather be a man or a woman. I'd rather stick with the old knob, ergo things can't really be all that unfair, can they?

women are more motivated than men generally i think and are more likely to keep a cleaner, more organised  house and get jobs done that are within their grasp  ,men tend to be lazy by default .

probably what the adverts are  aluding to .

we can all thank the brainy top 0.1% men and women   - we'd all be living very primitive lives without them Devil

As opposed to the smorgasbord of anti-retroviral tabs the likes of Ron Jeremy has to neck every day just to keep his T cell count up to a level that the common cold won't kill him
