When I hear Big River it reminds me of home. I used to work next to the Tyne, not at the shipyards, but at the sewage works at East Howdon, LOL.(used to have a quick 5 pints in the Duke of Wellington at lunchtime, then back to work)
I have Big River, I'm coming home Newcastle, Why aye man & of course Blaydon Racess in the car so I can have a good singalong as I drive.

there is a north east charity based around jimmy nails friend sammy johnson
called sunday for sammy, 4 years ago joe mcelderry sang big river live during
the show and made a great job of it

sammy johnson was stick in spender and had a small part in auf wiedersen pet
and sadly died in the late 80s
