the advert has a gentle voiced man tell you that McDonalds use 100 percent potato. Maris piper potato. yeah. what else. so i looked up the google. One of the newspapers had an article about an employee in the USA who listed the ingrediants.

100 percent of these below too. no adulteration of the ingrediants as far as i know? although GM potatoes might be used in the future.

canola oil
hydrogenerated soybean oil
soybean oil
natural beef flavour
hydrolyzed wheat
hydrolyzed milk
citric acid
dimethylpolysiloxane - silicone used in silly putty. STOPS FOAMING IN FRYING OIL.

dextrose - sprayed on fry to stop greying of chip in air
sodium acid pyrophosphate
salt
corn oil
tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ)

OH.... POTATO

GOOD LUCK WITH THE TUMS.

I BUY SHOE STRING FRIES FROM TESCO AT £1 HUGE BAG. THEY HAVE SIX NATURAL? INGREDIANTS. TASTE JUST LIKE MCDONALDS FRIES. SO CANNOT UNDERSTAND THE ABOVE LIST OF INGREDIANTS. ESPECIALLY THE SILICONE STUFF. AND TBHQ?

THANK YOU ADVERTISERS FOR MAKING ME CURIOUS ABOUT THE INGREDIANTS. IF ITS AN ADVERT ITS A LIE. A GOLDEN RULE.

Double cheeseburger and large fries?

Purchase:

1 Chip pan/deep fat fryer.
A quantity of beef dripping - or vegetable oil, if you're not au fait with the 'proper chip'.
Maris Piper potatoes.

Peel potatoes.
Cut into chips - of your own preference - thin/thick.
Steep in cold water (for those that don't know, it gets rid of the starch so your spuds are not soggy).
Drain chips and pat off in a dish cloth to gain extra dryness.

Fry the buggers in beef dripping in your own chip pan.
When cooked, empty chips in chip basket onto some kitchen paper to drain off extra fat.

Bloody superb.

Chips are one of our 'gourmet wonderments'. Treat them as such.

McDonalds are an aberration to humankind.

Two things. First, McDonalds' chips are different in America from here, and the OP lists American ingredients.

Second, the point of the "100% potato" claim is that they are not making artificial chips by mixing up potato and corn powder, as used to be alleged and presumably as some other fast food joints do in the land of the free spray-on cheese.

I always thought the concept of McDonalds was that the product was always the same wherever in the world you bought it.
And why do McDonalds chips need to be different in America?
And how does Ronald McDonald stay so slim eating all that junk food?

And why do McDonalds chips need to be different in America?

Dunno but most likely is that they use ingredients that are illegal here or we use ingredients that are illegal there, a bit like red Smarties. I've just googled for the answer but after two minutes of in-depth research have found many pages confirming the ingredients are different but none with a definitive explanation.

I hope you flail your back with thorny sticks after these events?

I was healthy and bought no added sugar jam.

The main (as in listed first, highest %) is aspartame.

Waste of time worrying what McDonald's spray in the chios to help them fry/look good when you can't even trust jam

McDonalds seem to make hard work of making what they call chips
