They can tell you if a planet is earth like from a thousand light years away.... but can't tell you how many planets are in this solar system? can't tell you for sure what is on the surface of most of the planets in our solar system. It's all guesses.

hot fudge on pluto? well maybe not.... they might say iron or nitrogen or something more reasonable. But its a educated guess.

the martian messiah on mars?

Furthest known observable object is 13 billion light years away ,the milky way alone  is 100 ,000 light years across ,currently nothing can travel faster than the speed of light (670,616,629 mph) ,at this speed you would go 7.5 times round earth per second  and it would take ON CURRENT fastest space travel speeds capable of carrying the payload 76 trillion years to get across the milky way alone ,apparently....?

The Milky Way is a barrel spiral galaxy that measures  100,000 ish light-years across, contains between 100 and 400 billion stars. The Solar System (and Earth) is located about 25,000 light-years to the galactic center and 25,000 light-years away from the edge. So if you  imagine a dinner plate as the Milky Way, and draw an imaginary line from the center of the plate to the outside. We’re located here .

Cant imagine were ever going to travel at the  speed of light but even if we could travel at 1000 times the speed of light it would still take 100 yrs to just travel across the milky way ,also the universe is still expanding so things are getting further away  ,obviously as per most scientific facts half of what i have wrote will in fifty years time be totally and factually incorrect ,if it aint already Laugh

To see Earth in relation to space think of a marble in the Atlantic Ocean.
I can't remember where I read that but I think it excuses the scientists for not knowing too much about our surroundings.
