Sorry for your loss Aspro.

NHS were brilliant for both my Mum and Dad. We are so lucky to have this service available at no cost at point of receipt.
And we should fight like hell to support it, and reject any steps to insidiously replace it with private health care.

My Dad's gone 18 years and I miss him every day but time is a great healer.

Your toughest time is today and the coming weeks but you will remember him in future with fondness.

So sorry for your loss.

Rest in Peace.  Sorry to hear it.  Even people offering condolences can upset you.
I called to my Da's grave on the 24th.  It was ten years since he died.
When he is alive there can be disagreements, but when he dies you know how you feel.
Report Howdi • February 28, 2016 4:37 PM GMT

Thank you Dan; I've decided to use this at the cremation - it is so apt

...and thanks to all of you offering words of support; we were close and spoke every day (mainly about Spurs). He will always be here with me.

Sorry to hear your sad news, you don't realize how hard it hits you losing your Mum or Dad. My Dad died 16 years ago and there has never been a single day I don't think about him. They say time is a great healer, but not really, time just numbs the pain.
Report Platini • March 6, 2016 11:54 AM GMT
My condolences Aspro. May your dad rest in peace.

My Dad is currently in hospital, and won't be getting out. Have to say the nurses and staff really are a credit to their profession.

Correct. Life goes on when you've lost both parents. But it's never the same.
Report Aspro • March 6, 2016 12:56 PM GMT
So true HD2 - I lost Mum 30 years ago this very month and she is in at least one dream a week and usually more. Can't recall ever dreaming about Dad but I'm sure I will now.

Sorry to hear about your Dad Platini; I know what you're going through but as you say, the staff are brilliant and will give him the very best all day, every day. Stay strong.

My Dad died in Ipswich Hospital last year.My family thought the care and attention given to Dad in the final 3 months was excellent, too, especially in the stroke wards.

heart goes out to you aspro, i lost my dad in April last year , i still mourn for him terribly may you find peace in this very distressing period for you
Report Coachbuster • March 8, 2016 7:01 PM GMT
I hear a lot from folk who work there ,Ipswich hopsital has excellent staff working under intense pressure ,it has a huge problem with staff leaving due to low morale  so it's badly understaffed -  a lot of them simply aren't looked after by the management .   It's those who grab the biggest slice of the pie that get any credit as per usual .
Report Coachbuster • March 8, 2016 7:01 PM GMT
So it's nice for the staff there when they hear nice comments
Report Aspro • March 8, 2016 7:07 PM GMT
Thanks tree/dragon and yes Coach; couldn't fault them. Put us up for a few nights, own room, coffee on tap and even grub if we wanted it. We took turns in having a sleep whilst the other stayed with Dad, all night long.

Cremation this Thursday at Enfield Crematorium; his wish as both his mother and father were cremated there. Quite costly to bring him home but satisfying we gave him what he wanted.
