Obviously not the whole pen lid but just part of it that I'd chewed off, prob about 3mm (1/8 inch) diameter by say 12mm (1/2 inch).  panicked at first thought it would be well embarassing and a colleague would have to give me the hindlick maneouvre but i got to the toilet and suddenly realised it wasn't stopping me breathing so no immediate problem.  It is however still stuck in the back of my throat(irritating and annoying) and swallowing water hasn't dislodged it.  Am I likely to see it through the night?  Not hungry otherwise I'd try and eat something to get rid.  16:30 is sandwich time if that doesn't dislodge it I'll start panicking again.

Go to A&E the doctor there will take it out for you. Might be an 8 hour wait though. Bring liquids.

What colour was it? In my experience it's the black ones that normally get stuck at the back of the throat.

Never understood why people chew ends of biros or pencils. Disgusting habit.

Well I broke with tradition and had my cheese sarnie at 4pm.  and I reckon it has been dislodged with the first mouthful.  You can all stop panicking and get back to where you are, dismissed, at ease... oh you're not in the army now.

It might just have scratched your throat Rob, it will seem like it's still there but if in doubt get it seen to before going to sleep. Don't want to risk breathing it into your lungs.

Lets hope it hasn't lodged itself in your pencreas or even  your appendixLaugh, no but seriously eat lots of bread that'll help to bring it out.

If you have an inkling something isn't quite right, I'd get the ball rolling and visit the doc, he or she will be a fountain of knowledge regarding the throat, and don't be embarrassed, shitt happens.
