I wouldn't be surprised. Boris does what is best for Boris. Campaigning for Brexit could strategically help his desire to take over from Cameron when he goes.

yes and if out is achieved he will claim all the credit and sh*t on the efforts who have put in the foundations over many years.

Farage needs to be the bigger man. If he insists on being the lead figure he will damage the campaign and will still struggle to seal the deal with the people. Playing a supporting role to an intellectual like Gove and a populist like Boris (without Farage's baggage) would give the out campaign its best chance. They could do with getting a Labour big hitter on board as well.

BREAKING...........Boris to back Brexit, BBC understands

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson is to campaign to leave the EU, the BBC understands.

After days of speculation, he will confirm tonight that he will back the campaign for Brexit.

This will be seen as a huge boost to the out campaign and a major blow to the prime minister who had hoped to persuade friends and rivals to back Remain, our political editor Laura Kuenssberg says.

Johnson must think there is a decent chance of OUT winning because he has also put his future leadership on the line.
Report Burton-Brewers • February 21, 2016 4:45 PM GMT
Nigel tried to be the bigger man, he wanted the two to unite and told Cummings to be chairman but it still wasn't enough. If the electoral commission is true to it's word, we should get the funding because we have a larger cross party support than Vote Leave.
Report brendanuk1 • February 21, 2016 4:49 PM GMT
He is positioning himself as alternative to Osbourne as next leader, thats it.

Nothing to do with what Boris believes, by his own admission he's been wobbling all over the subject like a wonky supermarket trolley.

Kate Hoey is a big fish.

You cant argue with two Olympic medals Mischief, and Minister for Sport!

On the minus side though, she voted for Flabbot in the recent labour leader race,
which must cast doubts on her sanity.

What baggage has Farage got ?

This is a culmination of twenty years work for Farage.
In that time he has proved himself the best orator and most likeable of politicians.

It would be great to see the UK get its confidence back and rule itself again.

I don't rate her so it doesn't pain me to say it but the Tory leadership tends to go to a moderate who nudge nudge wink wink's to the right of the party. May will have made herself in to a pound shop Ken Clarke with this decision.
