Aside from punching holes in them, to accommodate some extra bling, what are they for?

we've evolved to wear glasses. Look at the positioning of the eyes and nose also.
although I am talking about ears in general here and not specifically the lobes tbf

Perhaps they could be removed when one is young at the same time that certain groups circumcise their brats.

I would imagine, if available in sufficient quantities, and gently cooked, they could be a rare delicacy!

Maybe if global warming gathers pace we'll grow our lobes and use them as fans to cool down so don't get rid of them just yet.
The function of earlobes is to allow biology teachers to pontificate on the genetics of different people having or not having earlobes.

Actually, just a distant memory, but nibbling could be the answer!
Very handy to release water from ear if you suffer from swim ear etc imo
