Brilliant.  They should charge them more.  Ten year waiting list for season tickets guys, they can charge what the fk they want for tickets.

A first-class analysis.

The filthiest 'entertainment' business by far.

Harsh. But, as a generalisation, maybe fair. Certainly, it's why clubs can get away with charging so much because everyone keeps on paying the prices.

Scared

Liverpool fans are planning a walk-out in the second half of Saturday’s home game against Sunderland because of a row over ticket prices.

This week the club announced the most expensive non-corporate ticket in the main stand will increase to £77 next season.

Graham from Sheffield called 5 live Breakfast to say that with “honourable exceptions” he thinks that the average football fan is “of limited intelligence,” and would use all their disposable income to follow what is “probably the only interest in their lives”.

“The game is run by spivs, chancers and gangsters, it’s played by morons and it’s watched by cretins” he said.

This clip was originally broadcast on 5 live Breakfast on Friday 5 February 2016

Graham could have gone a lot further. He could have also pointed out that sports broadcasting organisations have knowingly turned any number of blind eyes to the corruption in the sport, and the sub-prime people that participate in it. simply because they have a vested interest in keeping the filthy show on the road.

Sky act as an ex professional's benevolent fund to whom they pay a wage for them to sit around and analyse the strength of footballer's farts it an attempt to make the viewers believe the extra they pay each time the price goes up is justified.
Its economies of scale, the wages they pay extra commentators is minuscule compared to the revenue they receive from price hikes.

He could then have gone on to ask the patronising cnt what sport he enjoyed - or was it just the Morris Dancing?

And now Wenger says the £8bn coming into the game from broadcast deals will go to the players and clubs and not to reduce ticket prices.

He said he didn't like football, but did love it.

They charge what the market will stand.

While the punters keep paying it the clubs will keep taking it.

Businesses of all sorts will squeeze what they can out of those that will pay ,and there are plenty of willing  folk.
Bright flashing lights, bright colours ,pretty women with pert boobs, loud voice overs etc .Normally does the trick - and these companies know  their target audience very well.

The bright will always triumph over the not so bright .

If football clubs didn't take their money ,Turf accountants would and if they didn't  it would be  any number of grabbing hands.

You can't invest in  some  folk - most of them will find any opportunity to throw their money away unless you put them in a **** fookin straight jacket  Laugh
By:

When: 05 Feb 16 18:42
there should be laws though to DISCOURAGE those from throwing their money away too QUICKLY.

for that reason ,gaming machines and scratchcards should be outlawed  or have strict limits .

there is no protection ,and many  wasting their money will have MENTAL ILLNESS .

Some folk should never have money pass through their hands  - maybe an electronic devise which enables folk to buy food , fuel, transport, clothes etc - not FOBTS
By:

football clubs should give season tickets holders IQ TESTS to test their mental capacity - and make a decison whether they are fit to attend a footbal match and know what they are letting themselves in for

He's put it pretty bluntly, and of course a lot of people would take offence at such language (or more likely take offence on someone else's behalf).  But in the main he is right.
The irony of fans walking out, having already paid to get in, in protest at the entrance prices is beyond parody.

The fans seem to think that "their" team should be spending ludicrous money in the transfer windows every year, but are too thick to see the link between high entrance prices, increasing subscriptions, and expensive merchandise with the vast transfer fees and sky high wages that the player command.

They have the ultimate sanction at their disposal; they can not attend/watch.  If you want £10 entry, then don't follow a Premier League club.

It's like only having a budget for a Ford Focus, then protesting that you can't afford a Ferrari.  Only when nobody buys a Ferrari will the price come down.

I thought he was hypocritical and entirely wrong.

He said he loved football. He cares so passionately he even phoned a radio station to voice his opinion. Pretty self indulgent.

Matchday income is less than a 3rd of total income. Of course savings should be passed on to match going fans.

Are fans cretins? I go with a city trader, the self employed, a chief auditor (retired), a gent who cares for his sick wife, an an aircraft engineer. We have nice homes, take noce holidays, have wonderful families and other interests.

What do they have in common? A love for football, their own team and loyalty.

Cretins?

They were talking on the radio this morning about how poor the atmosphere is in many of these Premiership grounds because a lot of the 'audience'
don't know the history, the traditions, the chants - they referred to them as football tourists.

Anecdotally, I have noticed that in a lot of the top teams grounds the first few rows appear full of young chinese fans who appear to be looking
at the game through the viewfinder in their mobile phones.

Currently reading "The Game of Our Lives : The English Premier League and the Making of Modern Britain" by David Goldblatt.

Despite the perhaps portentous title, it's a very enjoyable read, with any number of deserving cases getting nicely skewered.

£10 in to see Irish League football and money well spent. We got trounced out of the Irish Cup yesterday and I'm hating our team atm but still love watching the football. Had a European trip to Slovakia last summer unlike most followers of this rip off.

When I see premiership muggings of mainland supporters I'm surprised it took so long for the backlash.

Could let the fans in for nowt if they paid the players nearer what they're worth.

I watched the man city, leicester game yesterday at a pub.

I had a gambling interest in it as I have backed leicester at over 50/1 for the premiership - only for small stakes.  I also backed leicester to win or draw.  I could not believe the price for leicester to win!!!!   5/1 !!  This is for a side that was three points above man city in the league???

I really enjoyed a fantastic match. It was really 'end to end' action.  I was watching it with my ex boyfriend and was enjoying a glass of 'old rosie', a lovely scrumpy draft cider.  A lovely way to spend a few hours.

I went to grammar school and university, so I do not think I can be called a cretin.  One of my brothers is a millionaire chartered surveyor who, like myself, came from a  council estate.  He loves football too.  The actual game itself deserves the title 'the beautiful game'!

I think this is the future. Save £77 each and just pay for a few drinks. If the game is rubbish or you are surrounded by idiots just move on.

I am lucky, crisp, that I live in a quite a nice area and the pubs with sport have decent customers.  Not like when I lived in london and tried to watch a match in a pub.

No , i originally backed City , and smaller Chelsea (Chelsea ZILCCH) But still had a good bet on city when odds on , then layed them off before they lost to Arsenal , bought Arsenal a bit & went level red , but left myself big red doubting Leicester would trade so low , still don't think they'll win .. but they could ...
