Think big, think positive, never show any sign of weakness. Always go for the throat. Buy low, sell high. Fear? That's the other guy's problem.
You make no friends in the pits and you take no prisoners. One moment you're up half a mil in soybeans and the next, boom, your kids don't go to college and they've repossessed your Bentley.

I think most have us have mostly given more thought to the potential returns of investments, rather than protecting the principal. (i.e. what you have put in)
Now "they" have lost control of the world economy, it's more important than ever to play much safer.

Agree stow. Had been buying monthly but stopped now.
Some have sunk so low it's just not worth selling up May just write it off and if ever recover
It's a bonus

It may be best to have a look at retail bonds paying of the order of 5%. It's best to spread any investment across companies, having not much more than 5% in any one company. Unlike shares, the dividends of retail bonds are not taxed in ISAs and pensions. Remember, these aren't protected by the FSCS 75K deposit protection scheme. If the company goes bust, you can lose part or all of your investment. Avoid the financial RBs.

now's the time to buy bank shares

There was a chap on cnbc saying that a few months ago. He now has no shoes or socks! Do you think interest rates are going up or down? As far as I understand, banks do ok in a rising interest rate environment. I have a feeling that interest rates are more likely to go down, i.e. negative.
Report Platini • February 2, 2016 6:21 PM GMT
I know but there's more scope for up than down given the current share prices. Just might have to wait it out for a few years. Patience required.

That investment is not for the feint hearted!

Which way do you think interest rates are likeliest to move?

Sentiment is poor and volatility is high. Best to sit on the sidelines from all equities imo.
