Don't know what all the fuss was about tbh.
Photons arnt acting like waves at all, they remain particles that exist in several places at once as the test cant be separated from time.
The observational issue is completely arbitrary and the nincompoops have been heading down a cul-de-sac with that Im afraid.

Anyway, I have realised my findings will smash science and could lead to theoretical mapping of the position of elemental particles, effectively predicting the future.

I wondered who I would give the information to and decided no humans are worthy of this type of power, so not telling.

Why did it take you so long?
Report dustybin • February 2, 2016 1:57 PM GMT
Well I guess you sort of believe all the hype, these eminent scientists struggling over theory and all, if they cant crack it then why try?
But I heard some really silly things being suggested in a few science documentaries and thought 'bugger this Ill sort it'

"particles that exist in several places at once"  Crazy

Wave–particle duality is the fact that every elementary particle or quantic entity exhibits the properties of not only particles, but also waves.

Sounds more like particles that resonate to me. (In 12 seconds Grin)
Report dustybin • February 2, 2016 2:16 PM GMT
Its not that they resonate, but are in a perpetual state of transition, the test simply 'sees' them in a moment of time, so some appear to be in more than one place.
Anyway cant really say more cos bad people might use this info.

....and Dave cameron will jump on the bandwagon and suggest it was something the tories did
when it aint, infact I might sell the info to the russians just to p1ss him off

The trouble is we may use Quantum Physics, but we do not yet understand it

I wish I was clever like those guys....a beautiful mind must be the most wonderful thing of all

Still would anyone want Steven Hawkins body, but I admire the man so much

He wrestles with what happens to information in Black Holes, information cannot be lost but in Black Holes it is never seen again.

I watched a program the other night, the Universe is a Hologram, where somebody claims Hologram

I found that tricky to follow

and don't ask what me what string theory is, I never understood a word of that

I think light poses us a problem, it shows the attributes of both waves and particles

but unlike the OP I have not solved it

Yes I have often wondered about time Dusty. How can things be in two places at once at the same time.

Yes perhaps the time is the solution, the electron or whatever has moved, time has passed, even if we can't measure it.

Others say we are looking at parallel universes?????????????????????????????????

I hope you are right Dusty, you will have achieved scientific immortality, first revealed on the b/f chit chat forum.

It's about time someone rescued Schrodinger's cat from a fate worse than death. There's too much uncertainty in the Multiverse for anybody's good.

Yes I have often wondered about time Dusty. How can things be in two places at once at the same time.

Einstein thought of time as a dimension of space-time and all time existed permanently like any other dimension. We just moved along it at the speed of light. This would mean that every event past or future would exist and continue to exist for all time. The universe according to this idea is deterministic and we have no free will. (Just HAD to write that) Excited Off to bed now, I have no choice in the matter.

Einstein mucked plenty up. He got confused over several things. Seeing isn't necessarily believing but not seeing is not proof of not believing. If we don't look at the moon it doesn't prove it doesn't exit.
Photons separated into singular form carry the attributes of particles that are in one of three states, 'present', 'transition' and 'future' position.
Transitional photons appear to be 'moving' when time stops which it effectively does at the point the duality test is measured.
The test itself can't be separated from the fabric of time, it's assumed states are either on or off for simplicity sake, but light is both on and off, it's only time that makes it look constant.
What exactly are they expecting to 'see' before the slit?
The splitting of a single photon?
Well they have seen it they just arnt aware of it, it's on the result on the other side minus the speed of light.
Report dustybin • February 3, 2016 8:26 AM GMT
Electrons have no conscience, they don't behave differently due to observation of other electrons, they are directed by the forces present.
Just like the photons in the duality experiment don't behave differently due to being observed, they behave differently due to the process of observation (set the camera up again, redo the experiment but don't focus on the event, the result will remain 'unexpected' due to the force emitted by the camera, this eliminates observation)

What I believe is happening in the duality experiment is that at the sub atomic level particles appear to act as waves due to a portion of them co existing between points wishing the universe, they are effectively between two points and in both places at once. I don't believe particles 'move along' a path within the universe, they effectively transmit between points, and sometimes they become on at both points, which creates a subtotal greater than the original number of particles which manifests itself in the behaviour perceived to be that of waves.

That's all very well about wave-particle duality before breakfast but it doesn't deal with any of the scenarios of wave-particle duality after they've had their breakfast.

So, sorry... good effort but back to the drawing board I'm afraid.

I believe information and force are linked, perhaps one of the same.
The slit contains information between the starting point of the photon and it's finishing point and effects the outcome....just as does the attempt to observe it (the apparatus) contains information and alters its outcome.

So yes.
If you are informed you can alter the outcome by forcing a profit
