Won't it fail for all born between Jan 1st & Jan 16th?

Yes. Doesn't work if you've already had your birthday this year.

It doesn't work seem to work if I try it for someone whose preferred shoe size is a half on top a whole number.

Therefore, a key question emerges. Can we ever trust the Cobblers Industry again?

I ended up with 12. Wasn't expecting it to be able to work out my c0ck length in inches. A pleasant surprise.

Think of a number

Double it

Add 10

Halve it

Subtract original no.

is your number......................ConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused

Report mememe • January 18, 2016 2:45 PM GMT
number is x

double it = 2x

add 10 = 2x + 10

halve it ... divide by 2 = (2x + 10) /2  = x + 5

deduct x = x + 5 - 5 = 5

and the answer is always 5 ... wowee   errm, that's magic (is it?)

I saw a good numbers trick at a magicians show in London a couple of weeks ago.

He started off by saying he needed 4 random people from the audience of 1386 that day, more than once he mentioned that there was 1386 in the audience, a ball was thrown into the audience to pick the first one and then thrown again from there to the next until he had his 4, he then asked one of the 4 to come on stage to help with the trick.

The person brought onto the stage had to do all the adding etc on a phone calculator. He then asked each of the 3 in the audience to think of a 3 digit number, before he was told any of the numbers he told the one person to add 10 to his number, another to subtract 2 from theirs and the 3rd to switch the first and last digits around. numbers where then called out one at a time and the person on stage multiplied each number as instructed. The magician who was standing well away from person with the calculator and could not possibly see any figures on the calculator said he now wanted the helper to add in a number of the magicians choosing, this was done.

The magician then askes the helper to press equals to get a final total which he wrote on a board, the final total was 13,862,116,250 or to put it another way, this trick had just been performed in front of 1386 people on the 2nd January 2016 at 2.50pm

I googled it and it is such a simple trick.
