My question was rhetorical re the mum & dad ... but some good efforts.
No, when I saw them I thought they looked similar in a sisterly sort of way, in that they
1. had piggy faces
2. were plump and dumpy
3. seemed unbelievably stupid
4. spoke funny and I couldn't understand what they were saying
The only good thing is that neither has any kids so no offspring to pollute the gene pool.

TBH you could make an entire board game where you pull description cards called "Frau Sturgeon or Merkel" and have to decide which it is, but as every answer would be "both", it'd get boring
