Okay. I've got this friend. Wink He's nearly 50 and so he should know better but he was trying to smooth something over with a family member who is a bit of a hot head but didn't seem such a bad guy. Hot head reacts badly and friend for one of the rare occasions seems to see sense and walks away.

It isn't a pleasant feeling for said friend but given the circumstances (they were in father in laws house and family dynamic with the potential for other much closer family members likely to be emotionally hurt by any fall out) he feels he did the right thing.

Then he discovers certain other facts which paint other party in quite a bad light. It emerges he's a bit of a bully and has made other peoples lives who friend cares about a lot a bit of a misery.

Said person has now avoided contact on two separate occasions when contact would have been expected. Does the friend let sleeping dogs lie and hope the chance comes around again or does he engineer a meeting to have it out with him?

I recommend you ask a Muslim for guidance from the Qur'an - there's lots of stuff in there about dis agreements.

Families fall out... I was surprised to find out an old aunt of mine who I thought had no family actually had a brother she's not spoken to for decades. Depends how close the family is.
BUT if the person is always in the company of other family members, it's difficult. And aggressive situations make everyone uncomfortable.

Personally I'd be around but just do the minimum possible interaction, politely.

Don`t get involved in trying to put things right, its impossible. 90% of people, or more, would be happier if they didn`t have any family.

It would be better to have been invented rather than born.

Very good advice Just Checking. I suspect that pride is playing its part and they're gutted that they didn't know then what they know now so they could have filled them in without too much remorse.

Just to clarify am I right in saying that the situation involves you, your father-in-law and the fact that your missus would be stuck in the middle if you had a big falling out. If so then let it go and make sure that you missus knows the situation and that you don't like it. If it's not this then I don't know, it depends on the situation. Why so vague, do some of the other parties regularly frequent the chit chat forum.
