Waterloo on now bbc2

fancy that

Rod Steiger.....great acting !

The Illustrated Man

Got to go out.... recording it for later.

Not an Abba documentary then, how disappointing

Steiger was a great actor. The Pawnbroker, Al Capone, Dr Zhivago, In The Heat Of The Night, Oklahoma and Marty but to name a few.

.... and of course On The Waterfront

I'd have done his wife.

g2d, who hasn't.

First saw her in The Illustrated Man, and funnily enough they were divorced that very same year. Stunning in her yoof she was. I wonder what her salubrious family thought of the gruff New Yorker - Steiger..

Who was his wife g2d?

..... and don't say Mrs Steiger, lol.

Claire Bloom

Burton pumpe her early on and then Charlie Chaplin had a pop. As they were 2 of the worserest womanisers in film and stage, ye can see that she had that certain something..

Remember Rashamon, MM?

I never knew that. Chaplin discovered her and she starred in Limelight. Nice one.

One of favourites g2d. Toshira Mifune brilliant actor. Steiger had a big hit with it on Broadway.

She was in the original stageplay of Rashomon and then in the film remake 'The Outrage'
which is why i know a fair bit about her. She starred with Harvey and Brando in the latter. I reckon a threesome was done and fun had by all..

Well now ye know how she met Steiger..

You have a vivid imagination my friend, lol!

Yes, I realise now how they met. Didn't know CB starred in the theatre hit. You learn something every day!

Tbh, I can't see how a stage play of Kurosawa's classic, with a western cast, could have been such a massive hit, but seemingly it was. Did you ever buy any of the blu rays when they got released? I haven't, I decided just to happy with my ordinary dvds. Quality on them is good enough for me.

Her father, who had left the family when she was 16, came to visit her shortly after she became famous. She was angry with him. Three days later he died in his sleep and she learned afterwards that he had a serious heart condition.
His visit home had been, quietly, to say goodbye, said Bloom

I'm here to help mucker. I don't think my vivid imagination is needed for that one, MM. Once again they were 2 of the 'boys' Be very surprised if she and them did not indulge as it was the done thing anyway during that period.

I think i've told ye this before but Lita Baron (stunning) when divorcing Rory Calhoun (stunning) named 70 odd women who he had pumped (allegedly) When Calhoun found out he is supposed to have said " Hell; she didn't even name half of them"

Well i dint but my lovely daughter got me them.

She was wonderful, and so was Burton, in The Spy who came in from the cold.

Very true, lfc.

Thanks g2d. Burton was indeed terrific in The Spy Who Came In From The Cold.

.... and Clair Bloom. She's 84 now.

How many blu rays in the Kurosawa set g2d and is the quality so much better? Your daughter is a gem, must have cost her a small fortune!

She got me 2 diff ones, MM. Think there is 9 on both.

Quality is breathtaking, ye know how much i love his stuff and it was like watching diff films..

Nice one g2d. Will catch you later, taking the clan out for evening meal. Guess who is paying, lol. Tight fisted jocks, lol.

Enjoy, MM. Not too much whiskey mind.

Cheers g2d. I'll try, lol.
