Just woke to the sad news that Lemmy has died.
I was all set to see the band in January and pass the 'louder than everything else' rock 'n' roll torch onto my nephew - but I suppose that's not going to happen now. Chuck Norris only got given that name because 'Lemmy' was already taken. RIP Lemmy. Killed By Death. Thanks for everything (in excess). |

Very sad news to end the year.
Live album No Sleep Till Hammersmith will be getting a playing today. Read his autobiog some years ago . He certainly lived his 70 years on the planet. RIP Lemmy. |

And Meadowlark Lemon has passed away as well.

You know I'm bad, the times I've had,
I've got a bad reputation, I don't care, I get my share, Don't feel no deprivation, The more I get the better it is, I like it fine, like a little whizz, Treat 'em like ladies, that's a fact, You know The Chase Is Better Than The Catch RIP Lemmy... doubt there'll be much peace with you around though! |

Bad news but the good news is that it was quick.

Exactly what I thought, Dunlaying.
Diagnosed on Boxing Day; dead within two days. Much better to go like that than linger on for months in drawn-out pain. RIP Lemmy. Stoke's lost one of its finest. |

A great man

Very sad, so soon after losing Philthy too.
RIP. |

I used to see him playing the fruit machine in a pub on Ladbroke Grove. He was a bit of a fixture and nobody bothered him.

Saw him with Hawkwind in Bradford, circa '73.
Was the statuesque female who danced during the gigS with Hawkwind? Mind's gone blank. RIP |

Let this be a lesson to you all.
If you smoke, drink and have intercourse with hundreds of women you will only live to the age of 70 You have been warned.!!!! |
|
By:
But die of boredom by the age of 80 if you don't haha!!!
|
|
By:
Not my kind of music so can't comment on them as a band but has there ever been a song more likely to cause the blood to race around your veins than Ace Of Spades?
|
|
By:
Yeah same with me.
|
|
By:
It IS my kind of music.
Hard, honest uncompromising and with zero regard for what 'the market' dictates. When you hear the word 'artist' bestowed on every two-bob finalist in a nationwide Karaoke contest, it makes me want to heave, put up against the way Lemmy conducted his business. |
|
By:
According to a programme aired on Smooth Radio in 2013 to celebrate the feature's 33rd anniversary, the most requested song for Our Tune is "Ace of Spades", a song by English heavy metal band Motörhead, released in 1980.

By:
Bomber better than ace of spades imo.
|
|
By:
Lemmy insisted they were a Rock n Roll group not heavy metal .
|
|
By:
Motörhead always played rock'n'roll. Never heavy metal, though they inspired much of it.
