Yep, the Trump supporter calls me a racist and gets the decision. I'm now starting to see how you got the Leonard-Hagler fight wrong, EO.

It's a shame the much-banned poster from Newham isn't around. I've no doubt that he'd agree with Trump on plenty, yet I understand him to be a bit of an Ali fan. And he hates robdylan!

TGM hates me?  I always thought it was begrudging respect, shows how much I know.

Don't be sore Mikael. Nature is nature. You can't put muscle on your chin. Laugh

On Leonard/Hagler have another look in the record books. When your double vision has cleared of course. Wink

I know what it says in the record books, and I've seen way worse decisions than that one, but I've seen that fight about eight times. I respect your knowledge of boxing, indeed I accept it's greater than my own, but I question your judgement if you're still giving that one to Leonard.

I hear what you're saying about muscle on the chin, even if you're using it metaphorically. I'm hoping your boy Joshua doesn't have any on his. Wink

Leonard like Ali was a master of nudging the judges his way. Stealing a point here and there and closing out the round to present an image of dominance which may not always have been there. To me the Hagler fight was what it was. A very close fight difficult to score with Leonard doing far better than anybody expected and this may have influenced the judges. Unless I see an out and out robbery I tend not to be too critical of judges as everybody has their own view.

Your comment about Tyson is an interesting one. He had a massive impact on boxing and the division itself in between two great eras of the 70's and 90's. His problems are legion for me though. He burgled an empty house in terms of the fighters he faced in a division where some of the better prospects lost their way in crack dens. It sounds harsh but with the exception of an aged and previously retired Holmes he didn't beat anybody of historical import. For me it's such a shame that Tucker broke his right hand early in their fight because he had similar tools at that time to do the job which Douglas achieved.

On Joshua I don't know if you've seen a copy of his amateur fight with White but that's illustrative for me. Joshua was a skinny boy new to the game and White a fully grown man. White put him down but the crucial thing is the kid got up and came back at White. Ali took the occasional trip to the floor but it was what happened then which was relevant. I may be creating myself as a hostage to fortune but I think he'll do okay on that score. Obviously any guy getting hit in the right place by a 17 stones man can take a nap. Hell it even happened to Randy Tex Cobb. I'll reserve judgement on his stamina for now though. But if you said I had to give a prediction it would be very positive. The way he sits down on his punches as he plants reminds me very much of Joe Louis. It isn't any surprise to me that he is blowing guys away. I can't wait for this weekend.

I'm not, nor have I ever been, a Tyson fan. Best night of boxing ever for me was when Holyfield kicked his ass in the first fight. He was a phenomenon though, not seen since Big George, even if he was fortunate to arrive when he did. He was a lot more charismatic, if that's the right choice of word for a convicted rapist, than pre-conversion Foreman was too. Tyson definitely caught the public imagination like few boxers have since.

I've not seen the fight, although I was looking for it. Was Joshua's 3rd fight, Whyte's first! Point taken about physical development though, I'll concede I'd not really taken that into account. Still, 10/1 is a cheap enough price to find out I'm an arse.

Having seen them both I'd say 10/1 is a wise investment. I was most surprised given Whyte's relatively low profile that Joshua was willing to take this fight at this stage. Of course I clearly lean to Joshua and my gut instinct is that it won't go beyond a few rounds but I may even have a bit of 10/1 myself if it's still around.

You can get 11 on here for Whyte to win by stoppage. As you say, it's not going beyond a few rounds.

I'm at a loss to understand why the views of an aging pugilist about anything other than boxing should be considered worthy of publication in a national newspaper.

There's also an interview with them both via Johnny Nelson. They don't seem to like each other. Two things I'd say about Whyte is that he isn't difficult to hit but thus far he's taken the shots. At this level it's an exciting match up and if Joshua does a number on him then I grow more confident in my predictions about him.

Watched the fight now. 10/1 you say? Already seen the interview. Some weird stuff going on between them.

Going back to the interview, the biggest off-putter for me was when Whyte declined the handshake. 10/1 though...

Poor Mikael. Polybot lit up a fat Cuban and blew smoke in his face as he tried getting in the ring. I don't know if the rules allow for a KO before the fight starts but that sucker went down quicker than Jordan's knickers

Whyte clearly doesn't like him if he's lending Joshua his kecks to go clubbing in. Poor AJ. He'd look a right plonker strutting round town like Freddie Mercury with those short trousers on. He'd need a tighter belt as well. Good job he didn't borrow a shirt off him as well as Whyte's got bigger t1tties than Pamela Anderson.

Nelson made a good point during their interview which was also something I commented on after Joshua's demolition of Kevin Johnson a well known durable guy. Whyte was ringside and to me looked pretty shocked Joshua could do that to a decent pro. Nelson got a sly dig in saying he went quiet. He wasn't wrong though. Laugh
