It should be banned on the grounds that this is our ****g country and we do not want foreigners walking around with balaclavas on. This country needs to seriously man up imo.

The burka represents a woman's secondary status in a culture dominated by men.
It has no place in Western society. |

Can anyone wear one or do you have to be a Muslim? Bet they'd be nice and warm in the winter, I was just looking on Ebay and they're only about £20 and that's including postage.

By:
Do they have to be black?
I suppose they can't be a gay clour, unless you're good at landing on your feet (from a tall building) |
|
By:
Maybe Muslims have a patent for the design of burqas so that they have to be black, I don't know.

|
By:
Yes other European countries have, France, Sweden

Here's a blue one, that would be alright to wear in a snow storm.
The blue ones are a bit more pricey though. . http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Afghani-Burqa-Chador-Hijab-/231770979176?ha****m35f6a07b68:g:BNYAAOSwAodWEt~H |

The burka represents a woman's secondary status in a culture dominated by men. It has no place in Western society. One fear I have is that domestic abuse is rife in most cultures, especially in the Religion of Peace. How can friends, colleagues of a woman dressed head to toe in black ever see possible bruises etc? White women who have been victims of abuse either stay home to hide their injuries, thus courting worry and concern, or brave the outside world, get noticed and the alarm gets raised (hopefully). Where the f are the feminists shouting from the roof tops about Muslim women????? |
|
By:
I know some western women can get a bit narky when they see another woman in the same dress.
Therefore I assume it kicks off quite a bit in burka societies . https://vine.co/v/O9uupaqqKu2 |

A pertinent question indeed. Sadly, these self-imagined 'strong feminists' can't even find it in themselves to get stuck into the revolting FGM atrocities carried out in the UK, let alone the burqa issue. So much for 'liberation' and 'empowerment'. |

NO!
I've just got myself a dodgy blue disabled parking badge and it's the only way I'm going to look like the elderly Pakistani lady in the photo on the back. ![]() |

As stated above should NOT be allowed in our society.

Professional thieves apparently find the burqa a most helpful shoplifting aide. On an average trip to the supermarket, they can reportedly liberate around 200 tins of Corned Beef underneath a typical burqa, without attracting the attention of a store detective.
And naturally no-one is going to challenge the wearer to remove the garment, as that would represent a grotesque 'cultural insensitivity' and cause the sky to fall in. In other news, could I interest anyone in a tin or two of best Fray Bentos Corned Beef? A quid each or two for £3. You know it makes sense. Hurry hurry hurry. |

I used to live in Teheran and the general consensus amongst the expats was that we welcomed the chador (their equivalent of the burkah) given the state of some of the women ... however, I have to say that some were gorgeous ... and they wore very western clothes (before the revolution).
A friend of mine with a rampant imagination reckoned that they had nothing on underneath except for stockings and suspenders, but we never did find out. |

No need to ban the burka. Just ban the people that wear them.
|
|
By:
I agree with Charlie. Except it's 'who' wear them.

By:
don't ban them ... a double cheeseburqa is my favourite
|
|
By:
Does this mean we can shout "do you want fries with that" at them without being arrested.

I agree with Charlie. Ours shouldn't be a country which leaps to ban things we don't like. We should be stopping people entering the country who may hold such views.

Sorry, can't agree with you Charlie on this one.
The people who wear the burqa are in the main the victims of the desire of some religious fascists to subjugate women to the status of chattel. This is the outward expression of that desire which is contrary to the laws of our society and which ought to be enforced. |

This forum is going slower than a trade unionist with a grievance. Is everyone else experiencing this problem? The multiple postings suggest you are.
