just said 1 million in paid security roles in Iraq and they arent doing much against ISIL seems a good place to start

lovely way to spend british tax money Crazy
Report brendanuk1 • December 1, 2015 11:07 PM GMT
there is no debate here about what the action will practically do, which i guess is because its absolutely nothing
Report alun2005 • December 1, 2015 11:10 PM GMT
A much higher priority that needs to be actioned is to eliminate (by drone or otherwise) the thousands of ISIL terrorists, wannabe terrorists and their many sympathisers in THIS country.

If Britain can't sort out The Enemy Within Britain, we've got no hope of sorting out anywhere else.

Could you possibly imagine in WW2, Britain sitting quietly while thousands of Nazis were free to go about their business in Britain, funding, grooming, training and equipping other Nazis?
Report The Leopard • December 1, 2015 11:12 PM GMT
It may be more important politically to show we are in solidarity with the Coalition ......against ISIS.

have time for Mathew Paris and the conservative ex infantry man but the rest are just empty heads
Report The Leopard • December 1, 2015 11:19 PM GMT
Maybe we need internment camps for proven supporters of ISIS.
Report ccmac1975 • December 1, 2015 11:34 PM GMT
Totally agree with alums comments .shud be sorting out the problem on home soil regarding these scumbags rather than dropping bombs thousands if miles away and hoping that that will end the problem

Before Paris people were shouting that letting an open border into europe of possibly millions of unvetted people from there will lead to tears. There is a BBC interview on the net where a man who even suggested bad guys might be hidden in the refugees was treated as a mad racist by the BBC tool. I think many of us fear that'll just be the start, I certainly do SadSad

This is the BBC interview I think.

Yeah checking to true .me and everyone I know we're worried about the Trojan horse effect .but these days if you express such fears your branded inhuman or racist

Don't let the smoke and mirrors fool you good people. One thing which puzzled me was the apparent sudden mad blood lust amongst these dozens of Labour MP's. Fair enough when they are in government (Iraq) but it seemed decidedly odd that Labour MP's would be doing this in support of a mad cap ill thought out policy invoked by a Tory PM.

Then it dawned on me. Article 42(7) of The Lisbon Treaty allows an EU member state to call on other member states to come to their aid if they are attacked. France was recently attacked and has invoked the treaty and if there is one thing Labour luvvies like more than giving Tory's a bloody nose it is sucking up to their EU masters.

I admire Corbyn for taking a principled stance.

During the 2nd World War 'suspected' traitors were sent to internment camps on the Isle of Man. Now some liberallists may say that's far too harsh these days (the Isle of Man bit especially) but internment should be an option..
Report ccmac1975 • December 2, 2015 12:30 AM GMT
I agree with some of corbins thoughts on it but worry he's not got the balls for the fight against this at home seems totally against any sort of violence but he's far smarter than that idiot Cameron or milliband before him
Report Eeternaloptimist • December 2, 2015 12:36 AM GMT
For sure that would be the worry with Corbyn. There's the feeling he'd rather get the guitar out and try to sing Kumba Ya with them instead of giving the nutters a pasting and slinging them out of the country.
Report Eeternaloptimist • December 2, 2015 12:37 AM GMT
But then even allowing for him rattling his sabre over Syria is Cameron any more likely to take on the nutters at home and rid us of them?

This lisbon treaty argument doesnt quite sit right with me in this particular situation.
France were already bombing syria - their decision. France are attacked by terrorists. France invoke a treaty guilting their allies into sharing the responsibility. Whichever way people lean tomorrow, i hope they arent persuaded by a cowardly request like that.

I agree completely. It shouldn't surprise anyone that a target of bombings attempts to find another way to strike back if they can't shoot down the planes. I don't know how the treaty is worded, but it should only apply to unprovoked attacks.

In principle I see nothing wrong with attacking known IS training camps, command centres and revenue streams within Syria.  However, until such a time as the West and Russia can agree on a common aim within the country (ie either Assad stays or Assad goes), it is always going to be a difficult - if not impossible - situation to achieve anything meaningful.  The way "we" are going collectively, there will be nothing left of Syria or its people, save for those who have escaped the whole sorry mess.
Report 1st time poster • December 2, 2015 1:23 PM GMT
if cameron and co ultimately believe that the removal of assad is the real answer to syria,s problems, and believe all this shoite we,ve been fed this week about these brimstone missiles been able to target moving targets such as cars, open the door blow away the driver without injuring the rest of the passengers ,blah, blah, why dont they put assads name on one of these missiles and vaporise according to them the major problem,he was on sky this morning giving interviews only needed the sky bloke to have his mobile switched on and bobs your uncle job done
obviously they dont really want to eliminate him because chaos would reign, but its easily done

maybe cameron should lead a platoon of mp,s to join with these 70,000 to be the 1st boots on the ground
in a serious debate the funniest thing ive seen this week is the media,mp,s etc using the polls as a reason to start bombing ,the same polls that 6 months ago couldnt hit a cows asre with a banjo regarding polling in the election,i,m suprised they dare show their face never mind claim to no the publics opinion, its laughable

sick of hearing labour women especialy banging on about isis using women as sex slaves ,might have had more time for them if they,d bombed rotherham instead of turning a blind eye
