For an extra tenner they could of got Rusty Lee or Rick Waller |

Impressive. I have no idea who any of those four are.

Not quite on topic but in nearby (not too close, mind, but close enough for me) Birmingham, Julian Clary is starring in Aladdin.
Apparently locals wanted Abu Hamza, but he's now doing a gig in a US Penitentiary, they say he's got a part in Peter Pan. Mind you, Julian Clary always wanted a part in Peter Pan. |

Perth had Showaddywaddy this year. last year it was Peter Andre

A slightly risky scenario for Hamza had he been asked to press the Christmas lights button imo.

Stars from the pantomime, including Eurovision queen, Nicki French and impressionist, Philip Green, best known from his appearance on Britain’s Got Talent, will switch on the lights at 4.45pm. They will be joined on stage by Santa, Chesterfield’s mayor and other well-known faces.

By:
I hasten to add, that was last Sunday. Apologies to anyone thinking of making a last minute dash to north Derbyshire in the hopes of seeing Philip Green.

Solihull's Christmas lights were switched on on 21 November.
BUT BECAUSE OF HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUES THERE WAS NO PUBLIC EVENT! However Santa is coming to Solihull, to Brueton Park, on 6 December. FFS, I would have switched them on if they'd asked me. I'm not scared of getting wet if it rains. |

Still looking like Kingdom would have won this contest for Taunton imo. If he'd turned up.
Loughborough clear second with Sam and Amy from GEM 106. You know you've made it in the celeb stakes when you no longer need your surname. |

sfbtw - are you going insane from boredom?
Or was this an incisive post (worthy of Yentob) baring our crapulence to a pitiless searchlight of the soul. 10-11 either so far. |

Due to the severe weather forecast, Taunton Christmas lights switch on has been postponed until Sunday 6th December.
Johnny Kingdom will still switch the lights on, along with Miss Somerset and Father Christmas on Sunday 6th December, 5pm at Castle Green. No mention of a pitiless searchlight of the soul being switched on. |

Mark Wright is doing Freeport Braintree and X Factor's Sam Bailey is switching Southport on.

I think that a quick thinking chit chatter could kill 2 birds with one stone, here.
Get down to the light switching on event (if not too late) AND post a tenuous claim to fame! |

By:
our little village had a major coup planned with Christopher Timothy [yes a man best known for shoving his hand up a cows arse] due to switch on the lights last Saturday. Unfortunately heavy rain and high winds meant health and safety decreed it wasn't safe to flick a switch on so it was cancelled and we remain in darkness until such a time as the cow fiddler can fit us into his hectic schedule

a bit harsh, Sam Bailey isn't that big….

THE fanfare surrounding the switch-on of Taunton’s Christmas lights will not be happening this year, it has been announced.
There will still be lights and a Christmas tree in the town centre, but no event especially dedicated to turning on the lights throughout the town. Colin Barrell, chairman of the Taunton Chamber of Commerce, said: “I wonder if the event just gives people a reason to be disappointed anyway.” ![]() |

Christmas will surely have to be cancelled, lest it offends the vulnerable and needy 30-something toddlers, once of Calais?

Very excited that we've got Christopher Quinten this year. No expense spared by TDC.

Might need a separate "Which town has the most famous ex-husband of Gail McIntyre turning on the Christmas lights?" thread here.
