For more than 20 years I’ve been working in large office blocks in London, where security has followed the same 2-stage format :
1) Enter building and present a security pass to proceed 2) Go to the appropriate floor for my desk and present security pass to enter inner office space
Nobody I’ve ever worked with has complained about this set up even though visiting people on other floors can be bit of a pain if you don’t have access to all floors.
About a month ago somebody in our security department decided that step 2 above was unnecessary, stopped “collaboration” and made visiting meeting rooms on other floors a bit awkward. Up until last Friday I hadn’t really given it much thought but now I am horrified. I have questioned a couple of senior people but have effectively been told to “watch this space”. Perhaps, I’m overreacting but I intend to escalate this again tomorrow if nothing has been done.
My question is : does anyone else work in a large office block where security is equally lax ?
We had a secure entry at out HO. Buzzer goes Receptionist: Yes. Visitor: I've got a delivery. Receptionist then pressed for entry. No cctv pointed at door. Could have been anyone.

Having raised this matter with some senior people i would suggest that you now have a foolproof excuse for loitering in one of the cubicles in the ladies' loos and if you get caught just say you were doing an officially endorsed examination of current office security.
