the bomb in hiroshima killed 70,000 instantly, another 30-40,000 dying in the next few years after the attacks from radiation related cancers.

After WII thy dissuaded Stalin from invading Western Europe. Without that there would have been little to stop him, if he had a mind to.

If his army could beat the Germans there was little we could to stop him.

We continued to keep them for the same reason although I doubt the Soviet Union would ever have attacked, after Stalin.

They are not needed for that now I think. But I think we should keep them, just in case and it would stop any country blackmailing us with
