About time CND admitted they have been wrong for all these years.
The problem is... all those 'ban the bomb' nutters marching in the '50 & '60 now have prominent positions in society. They're probably plssed off that there never was a nuclear war. A few million dead would've been a small price to pay, just so they could say ''I told you so'' |

After WII thy dissuaded Stalin from invading Western Europe. Without that there would have been little to stop him, if he had a mind to. If his army could beat the Germans there was little we could to stop him. We continued to keep them for the same reason although I doubt the Soviet Union would ever have attacked, after Stalin. They are not needed for that now I think. But I think we should keep them, just in case and it would stop any country blackmailing us with Nuclear Weapons of their own. Probably not a good idea to use Nuclear Weapons on terrorists as we would incinerate a good deal of our own population, in fact we would do the terrorists job for them Intelligence, Surveillance, Vigilance are the only way to deal with terrorists, and trying to win 'Hearts and Minds' separate the terrorists from their natural supporters. |
