You need to look at sites that sell "graded goods". as there is sod all wrong with them.

I got a "Bissel Pro-Heat" carpet cleaner from an ad in The Times.

Paid £125.00 when "Comet" and "Currys were wanting £249.00

They were advertised as re-conditioned but there is no way that was true.
They wouldn't put an ad in a Sunday paper where they wanted to sell 1,000s of them on the strength of having that many re-conditioned.

This machine was clearly brand new, and the reason they do it is to sell volume to the retail consumer, without upsetting there trade markets!

Got exactly the same deal on a "Vax" vacuum cleaner, which again was brand new, but came in a bag (no box or instructions)!

Bought a Bose cd player 10 or so years ago from their own outlet shop in Bicester.  Miles cheaper that full price. Said it was re-con.
Re-con, my ar$e ... boxed, manuals, brand new.

It's done to protect the overpriced retail market.

Many years ago I did some work in Guernsey.  Place was full of minis - car hire was something like £2 a day for a mini.

Was also doing a project in another client ... Rover, so I asked them about it when I got back.
It was to register them as sold and then shift them through the second hand channels.
Moral .... be careful when you buy something new if it costs a lot of money ... you might be getting ripped off

AP. Is a hoover collector imo Laugh

Far from it bb!

I wouldn't buy another Hoover product, based on the fact that everything I ever bought was a problem.

The last thing we got was a "cylinder" vacuum cleaner which we thought we would try after always having "uprights".

It had a power brush head and sucked like what's his name.

It looked space age with all the flashing lights and graphics.

It went kaput after only three months.

The guy that fixed it (PCB failure) said that it would have cost £28.00 plus parts, out of warranty.

"So how much is the part"? said I.

£26.00!!!!!

This was a long, long time ago....

BTW bb....you are using the generic name for vacuum as "Hoover". Something I never do, but the "Bissel" is a carpet cleaner...not a vacuum!

Ok, I do have a Panasonic upright too, so I guess that makes me a collector.

Never been happy with it, as it won't play audio cassettes without chewing them up!
