How has this thread got so far without:

I gave 110%

Easily my biggest bugbear and as soon as someone says it I want to hurt them. Give 100%. 100% is impressive. And if you are going to break the barriers down and go over 100%, why the f*ck are you only giving 110%? Why are you not giving 1,000%? Or a million %? What's the point of doing the impossible and yet just chucking a measly 10 more on the heap?

I bet a few on here are guilty of this one... saying "bye, bye, bye" up to half-a-dozen times before putting down the phone. Why do people do that!?

a person who uses 'honestly' (or it's completely deranged derivative 'If I'm being honest') or 'at the end of the day' reveals their limitations explicity.

Indeed, I am very disappointed if my losing football team are described by their manager as having given 120%.... if they had managed to get that figure up to 150% they might not have lost the feckin' game, and, given the amount of money they are on I wouldn't expect less than 135% every match... a favourite of news channels seems to be 'growing concerns' which can be used in items ranging from
'there are growing concerns about the safety of...' to 'there are growing concerns over the increasing number of homeless people'

a friend of mine often punctuates statements with 'if that makes sense?' as if he's worried about his own ability to articulate or if he putting forward a complicated proposition.
Just makes me smile though tbh.

My pet hate is when t0sspots on the TV talk of individuals in the plural, eg

'the likes of yer Rooneys, yer Roots and yer Hamiltons.'  Cry

Listen.

Yes.  If anyone begins a sentence with this word, I generally do the exact opposite of their instruction.

"We are where we are".

Often associated with ....we are in the sh*te.... but don't want a "witch-hunt". Oh sh*te there's another.

Has anyone seen the amount of ads on eBay describing items like pencils or plugs as being 'from a smoke & pet free home'? Shocked
WTF has that got to do with anything? It's not as if we're talking about clothes/fabrics that could stink of foul odours - fcukin' maniacs!

Here are a few phrases that I hear daily, which make me cringe:

Welcomed with open arms - not by me Devil
To be fair... - utter nonsense churned out by virtually everyone Cry
Bring to the table - What fcukin' table? Confused

BUT the worst of the lot for me is that hideous, patronising gesture of those twátting finger commas Angry

Wake up & small my balls! Crazy Erm...I mean the coffee Blush

Elephant in the room - utter bollox!
Push the envelope - another boat that's left me on the island
(we take it) very seriously - when they clearly don't

and my 'favourite' bit of bellendry in almost every reply to an email:

please don't hesitate to get in touch...etc. - FCUKOFF! Angry

What drives me mad is people who say "like" every, like, second, like, word, and people who end sentences like they are a question or p*nce the last syllable of sentences up and down on 3 elongated whining notes.

You'd think that is just teenagers but I've noticed that cleek of London New Labour types (like Ed Miliband or his bald mate who dropped out of the leadership race early one) do the latter all the time. Or should that be tiii-iii-me.

Just Checking -- here is an excellent video with Stephen Fry on Room 101 explaining what you are talking about with regard to answers being posed in the form of a question. Here is the link for that ....
