lets hope she pulls through. in this world its easy to be cynical put the risks all the medical people take dealing with ebola make them special people, in my opinion.

Yeah this is sad news, good luck.

Just did a little wiki search and it seems like that ebola epidemic is virtually over. There is a graph there showing deaths per month and from about Aug2014 to Jan 2015 it was peaking at approx. 2000/month. Since when it has dropped dramatically to what appears to be about single figures/month. I don’t recall this good news being reported in the media anywhere. At one point we were being sold the idea that it was gonna spread and spread like some kind of pandemic. God only knows what went wrong with this Pauline Cafferkey.

A real shame. I know some of her relatives. Lets hope she pulls through.

rob dylan i saw a news report recently that was about it falling. what you should note is that the current outbreak may be virtually over. there will, in all likelihood, be another outbreak at some point. apparently it can stay in your system for a couple of years.

Brave girl, doesn't sound good at all. Hope her body still has the reserves to keep fighting.

The virus can hide from your immune system in your eyeballs and spinal cord....so they say.

Glad that you're in a deep sleep as I type this. Permanence for your current stasis would be welcomed by all or most IMO. Now FOYDC. Thanks in advance and lots of love xxx |

I'm sick to death of these phucking do-gooders, traipsing abroad to help out people worse off than themselves when there are PLENTY of people in their own country who are phucking destitute, on the bread line, suffering intolerable abuse, sever mental health issues, HELP THEM, but no, they'd rather 'go abroad' and be a phucking hero, it's selfish on their part, not only are they neglecting the people in their own phucking country, not only are they enjoying their trips to foreign country so they talk about their experience as if they'd let some sort of phucking fulfilling life, but the idiots, the Ebola bombs are flying back in and bringing their phucking diseases with them!!!!
Yet they're treating like phucking HEROES. PHUCK OFF FFS..............each to their own opinion but I will just highlight the people in some of these countries are in a far worse case than the lowest of the low in this country. comparing apples with pears. |

What was the gest of his post please?

Think it might be what Howdi has reposted (bar the last sentence) but he forgot to italicise so it looks like those thoughts are his thoughts. I think.

Well, everybody is entitled to their opinion whether one agrees with it or not. On the bright side she's still in there fighting.
|

Since we take so many doctors and nurses for the NHS from countries that need them (always highlighted how many of them are foreign born) it's only right that medical people from here go abroad to help. I admire them all, wish her well and that some medical knowledge can be gained from these complications.

Good to see this woman improving from 'critical' to 'serious but stable'. Hope she pulls through from this hideous disease.

It is good news Stewart.
Acqiences post was a disgrace but not a surprise from this sad attention seeker. Good luck to Pauline in her fight for life. |

I hope the lady recovers.
However it is not unreasonable to point out that this love of the strange is here in spades. She wanted adventure, was being paid but returned without a thought of the damage she could do. Its a liberal thing,a desire to parade your goodness in foreign lands. |
|

What a load of rubbish.
Firstly she went to deal with a deadly bug. Secondly as regards returned without a thought of the damage she could do well that's total nonsense. She was given the all clear to travel by senior medics after passing all known tests. Lastly I think you're final statement is maybe based on your own values and not those of people like Pauline McCafferty. |

Agree Akabula. Far better to fight this outbreak at source where there are good prospects of bringing it under control, rather than wait until it becomes a worldwide epidemic.
Very pleased to hear that her condition is improving, a tribute to the hard work of the medical team and to her will to pull through. |

The likes of AKABULA are not worth listening to, he is a Scottish Tory supporter, a loan wolf, a black sheep, a billy no mates, nobody in his own country cares what he thinks let alone people on here ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Getting better all the time thankfully.
|

If she wasn't ill none of us would know who she was. In a country obsessed with brain dead celebrities, I think people like her are to be admired. I'm sure her expertise gave her plenty of other options to travel without significant risk to her own life and am confident her underlying motive was to help others and not to receive the adulation of others.

Good news stewarty. I think the World is a better place with people like her.

It seems that there is a lot more to this virus than was imagined.

incredibly hard to have to go thru this twice, for her and those around her, including docs...everything crossed
|
|

I have never googled ebola but surely it couldn't come back to haunt you for a third time?

Good to hear she's back in a Glasgow hospital, recovering well.

A Scottish nurse who was readmitted to hospital after suffering complications arising from the Ebola infection has made a "full recovery", doctors say.
Pauline Cafferkey initially contracted Ebola while working at a treatment centre in Sierra Leone last year. She was successfully treated at the Royal Free Hospital in London, but was taken there again in October after the virus caused her to develop meningitis. The hospital said Ms Cafferkey had now been discharged. In a statement, it said that the 39-year-old nurse was no longer infectious, was well enough to return to Scotland, and had been transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. A statement from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde added: "We can confirm that Pauline Cafferkey was transferred back to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to her complete her hospital treatment. Her condition is stable. "All the appropriate arrangements for Pauline's admission to the hospital and continued treatment have been followed." |

Ah, okay ...
....had been transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. |

![]() The week before she fell ill for a second time, Ms Cafferkey received an award at the Pride of Britain Awards in central London, before meeting the Prime Minister's wife Samantha Cameron the following day at Downing Street, alongside other winners. |
