not the saddest but uplifting .. The Beatles- Hey Jude (with lyrics)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCazMqCJVMc

I once spent the night in a police station cell after beating up a policeman ( he started it and no charges were pressed - perhaps because a former neighbour was working there as a pc )
I couldn't get the following song out of my head.

The Beatles - Yer Blues - Lyrics

I'm sure a Beatles afficionado can confirm or refute but wasn't Hey Jude written for John's son Julian with the words being changed at a later stage?

Alone again naturally is the pinnacle of sad songs for me, Father and Son also deserving of its mention imo.

But I was just listening to this (and reading the lyrics) and, whether it's because of tiredness or just that I'm getting soft(er) in my old age, this song just made me weep a bit.

I found Alone Again really depressing and couldn't listen to it to the end.

In a blind deserted alley in the once green Rhondda Valley
A man was sadly searching for his soul,
And his eyes are unforgiving, when they took away his children
They buried all his pride beneath the coal

From the Fureys (original line up with the great Finbar on vocals) Hearts on Fire.

You could fill this thread with stuff from Eric Bogle.
Really talented guy who wrote Leaving Nancy and The Band Played Waltzing Matilda.

Memory and songs is a funny thing, I just heard a song on the TV from an album I used to have. I looked up the album, saw a song title, heard the chorus in my head, then had a very vivid memory of having a bath with that playing in the next room years ago Laugh.

Whenever I hear anything from the 60s it normally evokes some fantastic memories I have of that time.
Hey Jude for instance always reminds me of a party and a very nice girl I met at it. Laugh
