Caught some of the debate this morning on the victoria derbyshire show.
I couldn't believe the bints trying to justify it - no harm in 1 or 2 drinks a week, there's no evidence it harms the baby, it's my choice, how dare you tell me what to do, yada yada

You don't need to be a Nobel prize winning scientist to work out that alcohol is harmful, same as smoking and other drugs. Crazy

I'm on the fence, really.  If the woman is gunning 8 cans of Spesh a day then obviously this isn't good news, but what harm does a couple of glasses of wine or a couple of bottles of lager a week do to the unborn baby?
Report G1_Jockey_4 October 7, 2015 5:55 PM BST
guess it depends if the womans body filters out the alcahol before the blood circulates in the baby's bloodstream?

unlikely i guess and any poison in the system isnt good.

some people still think its okay to have a small drink then get behind the wheel. as long as you're under the limit and all that?

The fair thing to do from the male perspective would be to agree also not to drink for 9 months as an agreement.

I'd simply rather not have the spawn, you know she'd be likely sneaking slurps and shed suspect you to be doing so too, it would all end in a massive fight....too many on the planet anyway thinking about their own interests.

The fair thing ?

Who  decides that ? you ? clearly too sexist to provide an unbiased opinion.

Chortle
How is that sexist then?
What's unfair about the father agreeing to not drink for the period of the pregnancy in solidarity with the mother to persuade her to also not drink?
Report G1_Jockey_4 October 8, 2015 9:18 AM BST
think the father not drinking whilst sperm is being produced leading up to getting her up the duff is a very valid argument....as with other substances.

I don't understand why you would take the chance for the sake of not drinking for a few months of your life.

If your kid ends up having anything wrong with him/her there will surely always be a nagging little voice in the back of your head wondering if it might be because you drank during pregnancy, whether it does have an affect or not?

...of course, if you're the kind of person to drink during pregnancy, you're probably not the sort of person to feel guilt or suspect it might be your fault, should there be anything wrong with your kid.
