Got some help here before. Turned on laptop today before it booted it had a crackling frizzling noise. Noise a bit like static electricity. Finally got into the laptop after a few tries to boot. Everything ok but the mouse touchpad is not working. Have tried going into settings and it seems to be enabled. Could something have fried and caused this. Thanks.

I take it you're using a wired mouse?

The wired mouse works it's the touchpad on the laptop is gone.

Yes, it could be fritzed.

Or you could have accidentally turned it off by pressing your laptop's "turn off touchpad" button, which could be anywhere depending what make it is.

Or you could have turned it off in software but it is hard to do that by accident.

On the plus side, touchpads are the tool of the devil, which is why mine is permanently disabled.

Thanks. I have checked if i have turned it off by accident it seems enabled from the control panel menu. I actually use both and have got used the touchpad. If it is fritzed is it fixable. Hate putting laptops in for repair as they seem to charge stupid amounts.
