Somebody already mentioned the blue invalid cars, what always struck me was you rarely saw them anywhere but football matches with around 20 of em along the touchline or lined up behind the goal. Nobody sticks sticks token in half lolly sticks in dog pop these days, although I am not sure why they ever did.

@cooperman needs to get out more. You see lots of chaps with ponytails and not much on top, though fewer than there used to be since men started shaving their heads to disguise their baldness: genius!

Stagecoach ? Yeah Stagecoach, released in 1939, and the film that launched John Wayne as a Superstar - despite already doing about 70 films. It is still one of the greatest westerns ever made. The Indian attack and the Cavalry charge to the rescue are terrific action sequences. Love those old cowboy films. Rio Brave and The Searchers a couple of other favourites, and The Lone Ranger on TV. |

^ She Wore A Yellow Ribbon another fav. That was the first John Wayne/and director John Ford cowboy film in colour.
Wayne plays a retiring cavalry officer, he was about 40 at the time and had to play the part of a 65-year-old man. John Ford jokingly said, "I didn't know the big son of a b1tch could act !" Rio Bravo was my fav Wayne film. Got a huge collection of old DVD films a load of 'em are Westerns and War films. Fav war film Ice Cold In Alex. |

I see it was released in 1950 but I remember my big brother taking me to the cinema to see it in 60 or 61.
Brings back great memories for me. |
|
By:
^ Loved the movie when I was a kid and I still love it. Although wouldn't say it was Wayne's best film but def in his Top 10
