However, soon after, he tripped over his dog and tore ligaments in his ankle which required surgery.
He returned late on in the season and managed to score the goal against Hull which secured Stoke's survival in their first year in the Prem.
In and out of the side the next season, he moved on.

I'd pay a lot of money to see, for example, the hounds from the Combined North Derbyshire and East Somerset District hunts getting themselves lost one foggy day and turning up at the Lakeside, Frimley Green of all places, just as your pal The Count is about to throw the last three darts of a televised 9 dart finish. As he steps up to the oche, we hear the sound of a hunting horn, and see a colossal herd of deranged hounds storm the building, arriving onstage without so much as a comedy pre-announcement, and The Count tripping over them haplessly. The final indignity would see him lying injured on the floor, with half a dozen hounds cheekily waddling over his already sweaty shirt.
