McDonalds....UK v USA

Not been to a McDonalds in the States, but I can heartily recommend a company called 'In n Out Burger' to anyone travelling to the West Coast

Wendy burgers are bigger and superior.

I'm sure McDonald's success is largely down to their ability to make consistently good fries. Everyone else seems to struggle

I had McDonald's in USA. Same as the UK (and rest of world) version.

My first thought when I read this was to bring back a memory of the last time I had a McDonalds in the States. One of the servers/flippers went to the toilet then straight back behind the counter without washing his hands - filthy barsteward

Disgusting organisation. The tales of animal cruelty among their suppliers is endless.

The chips (sorry, fries) are different. The burgers likewise -- fewer hormones, different sauces. The differences are partly due to national preferences (or preferences decades ago when the recipes were tested) and partly to food laws that ban different additives and flavourings.

Its a shame that there is such an emphasis on McDonalds and fast food burgers.

Whenever I have been in the states I have had some fantastic, proper burgers in independent restaurants/diners etc.

Pretty sure there are some decent burgers in the UK now too.

Best ever burger I had was in Hilton Hotel by Boston Airport.  Had a delayed flight and we got put up for the night there.  It wasn't minced up beef it was finely chopped pieces of steak.

Agree with you Jack. Last time I was in NYC the children wanted McDonalds (I know) and to my eyes it looked the same as in the UK, although naturally you could supersize everything. Had the best burger of my life in an Italian restaurant near Battery Park and although it was nearly as big as my head, there was nothing ostentatious about it, just a great piece of steak in a bun.

Don't mince, just chop it in all directions and then re-form.

Easier than mincing, as no clean up to do, and always fab!

Yes, and they are starting to spread to ordinary high streets. Obviously, they are more expensive than Micky D's.

Be sure to add an element of fat, as this is where a lot of flavour is and keeps it moist.

McDonalds in the USA was in trouble recently when it was found that their burgers were being made from a sort of pink slurry containing 'not for human consumption' animal parts.
The UK doesn't have the same issue apparently.

Amazes me the amount of people that slag off McDonald's then sound off like a PR rep about Nandos and Gregs sausage rolls

I'd happily endorse Coca Cola and McDonald's for free.

She had a good burger in NY and it was enormous. The best one was at "Five Guys" in DC.

She still says that TGI Fridays takes some beating, so will go on my birthday....YEAH!!!

Me neither. I was only there as I had a voucher and was shopping next door.

I used to buy the office staff one, a couple of times a year, and just gave them a ton and left them to it!

It was funny to see people who I know hated my guts, happily getting stuck in, and supersizing everything, yet never a word of thanks afterwards.

Even the MD, who shouldn't really have taken advantage, was on the case, probably because he always said that I had more money than God,
and there was perhaps a little resentment there!

Can't begin to tell you how good it felt, to just walk off into the sunset, having got bored of working, and to be full time playing on here.....
