Is it the illnesses that cause the attitude? Generally speaking though, I'd agree that your general level of happiness or otherwise does have an impact upon your health. Placing losing bets can't be healthy and virtually everyone places more of those than winning ones.

Quite possibly. I generally loathe the positive-thinking brigade, but every time I feel myself coming down with something I tell myself I'm not going to be made ill by some little bits of bacteria/virus and try to fight it off, and I hardly ever get sick.

If your attitude didn't affect your body the placebo effect wouldn't exist, and that's been proven so you've got to think it does.
Also I'm sure studies will have proved it does have an effect, it must've been researched?

The placebo effect is different in that you actually believe that something will make you better. Just saying positive things that deep down you don't believe are true doesn't work.
