I have in recent days read that several Eastern European countries don't want to take any refugees from Syria, because they don't want a large Muslim population in their country. Many politicians in Western Europe seem terribly upset by this, and want to force them to take some Syrian refugees. What do you think about this?

Personally I think it's very wrong to force them. While the situation in Syria truly is terrible there are many Muslim countries where they can seek refuge plus many Western countries that are convinced that multiculturalism always is a good thing (except maybe in the cases of Syria and Iraq and a few other countries that people are fleeing from?)

Hungary and Slovakia are talking a lot of sense. They see the big picture and the future.

Clearly there is SOME sense out there in Europe. There's precious little closer to home.

The only solution is an all out war, mass slaughter and the winners dictate the terms of the peace, like the good old days.

Eastern Europe has experienced muslim conflict generations ago nd know what will happen if slushy sentiment rules the head. The BBC must be overcrowding the refugee camps in Lebanon the way they are reporting just now.

ask the the question the other way round.

would many muslim countries want thousands of Christian immigrants to their country expecting freedom of religion and building of lots of churches and expecting the locals to accept unconditionally their way of life?

highly doubt that.

some of these countries have a population of only say 5m or 6m

accept say 100,000 muslim refugee's they then bring over family etc and they breed like rabbits. It would not be long before the country is predominately muslim.

Within a decade whole area's of the country would be predominately muslim, which is when they ask for sharia law in their areas and other demands, super mosques, etc etc.

Perhaps muslim countries should be taking in these huge numbers rather than western Europe.

Their fellow muslims in the Gulf states don't want to take any Syrians.

How strange.

Didn't Merkel only a couple of years ago say that multiculturalism had failed in Germany or something such? Now all EU-countries must embrace multiculturalism without any reservations? Or does she now expect immediate assimilation?

I think the EU should abandon the refugee act of 1951 (with a very significant amendment made 1967) btw. It was not written with the current situation in mind at all. The world has changed much since then.

And no, I don't hate all cultures that are different from my own. I just don't like all cultures equally much, and I don't think all are equally compatible, and some best separated by national borders.
