Hey, Vel.

Hey btf, he was on here when I posted. Expect he's crashed off the road and will be waiting 3 days in a semi-coma for the emergency services in the new Scotland.
Hey hey-lo Bodil!
No, yeah, hello to Boxingthefox as well, too...yeah, no I was just delayed in the old confessional thread there, confessing the time I stole the Strokelo % Putter AKA the Strokelo 67, from Cornelius Brake the promising golfer. It was made of pewter and hickory.
Does you remember PUBLIC EYE starring Alfred Burke, Bodil? Now, that was a great programme.

sounds good to me. Hope you are well and winning mate, or at worst not losing.
Hey hey, I like yer FOX IN A BOX, Boxingthefox, yer fox in a box avatar-thingy...much the best one I've seen.
I have to thank Make My Hay, who gifted it to me, I'm cr@p at these things
Oddly I have some of the early ones. The ones that survived. After he was released from prison and went to Brighton. Black and white - unlike most things today. Then he went to Windsor and became coloured. Stephanie Beauchamp (? oh lord) in the Brighton series with many others, since departed (not her). He had an integrity - and an hypnotic connection to the viewer. I thought the last time I saw him was in a Tales Of The Unexpected where he played a child rapist and murderer - with integrity and insight. But I see he was in the Harry Potter films. He had charisma.
Don't remember Public eye, but remember "pinkie" in Brighton Rock, as if it was the 60s when Mods and Rockers were kicking sh1te out of each other,
Marker got 6 GNS a day plus expenses...he uncovered all sorts of corruption - some of it running to hundreds of pounds. Have watched 12 episodes so far and am now rationing them for the autumn and winter. He had to check out a doctor's credit history when the doc's "wife" went to buy a chest freezer on HP.
Will keep Brighton Rock and Casablanca for the winter too as I ain't seen them yet. TENTE ZITA with Joanna Shimkus was excellent, made better because there were no English subtitles. Film Four need to do a Joanna Shimkus season.

Oh hell, while we try to watch the near-endless 1960s, 70s, 80s TV that remind of us sadly-lacking earlier life, the young, hungry entitlement-spawned will fight to take it from us, relegating the shrinkies to a care-taker's cupboard with no sink. If we don't make a stand now we are toast.
I won't bore you with the details but a few life threatening viruses in the last few years have finally decided the daily battle of ego Vs Id, the ego lost. Why does it take this extreme to find a degree of enlightenment, even allowing for the need of the ego's protective diligence for us to orientally cognizance the material plain.
Sorry guys, feeling a bit melancholy, I will bid you both a fond goodnight.
Well maybe that is not so bad. Marker got his water supply cut off for non-payment then his mug handle broke and he tried to glue it back on. What was the point of the kettle working when the water was OFF?? Then he had to change the light bulb but it wouldn't stop flickering.
At least Nell the antique dealer came in for a chat and some ginger nuts, occasionally. If only Marker had more stuff to put on his empty shelves!!

I don't know bodil, my mind is not in sync with yours, I'm not about to croak, (well I hope not)as far as I know.
Hi crags, it wasn't actually a spelling mistake just an adjective mistake, I'm prone to those. these, them, oh fck it.

Goodnight Boxingthefox - it's that horrible programme PUBLIC EYE that's making you feel melancholy...that's what it does...I'm feeling melancholy too...goodnight Crags and Bodil...have to shift 2 double beds 2-tommorrow-too as well - Meyers beds, the big heavy beds, up stairs and all sorts of sh1t not to mention fitting carpets and setting slug traps...
You are SO right about this Scotch GOVT Bodil!!

What's the point of continuing without Hayley Turner??
The point about late 60s/early 70s living was our amazingly low expectations. We'd be happy with a wimpey-burger and a few bits of (multi-coloured) tinsel. Plus books - real books.
Goodnight guys. Vel, you seem to have some inside info on me there...intriguing. Or maybe you are in the same lines of work as I am.
Shoes without holes would have done me in the 60s, sad but fcking true.
sad but fcking true.
That Victoria Derbyshire olympic woman doesn't make up for Hayley. Or is it Pendleybury? The bobsleigh can't prepare you for Cheltenham!
Nothing can prepare you for Cheltenham, saw Arkle win his first gold cup, I was 15 at the time, was blessed to see many greats in the flesh right up to KS winning his last King George. J'sus I'm old
Well as far as I'm concerned, the 70s was a time of great luxury. What I do is this : after the family has eaten the spring onions down to the root, I plant them so that they re-grow. Then I capture the slugs and feed them excessively on the rebooted spring onions.
They (the slugs) are intriguing when eaten with garlic-ed breadcrumbs.

Jesus, you are. I watched his 3rd on TV - which makes me - possibly one year younger than you. Bollox. Triple bollox. I am so smooth skinned ...
Did U C the guy on Mastermind, Boxingthefox? Specialist subject was ARKLE -- Himself!
Marker made me think of Palladin. Dont know why. Have Gun Will Travel.
66 for btf and 65 for bodil. surprised by the first mentioned.
When a man dies, "a library burns down", bodil I offer this cold comfort, please don't shoot the messenger, oh well, if you must.
No Vel would have loved that.
67 crags. J'sus H, even I don't believe it

Loved it, : Richard Boone, was brilliant.
65 but not next week. Inside I'm a seething mass of corruption but superficially I could pass for (a prettier)David Cameron (who oddly is a seething mass of corruption inside). Hey.
You know I love you all.
And Vel was one of those chosen to distribute Shergar as Glasgow burgers. With pickled cucumbers.
Yum.

He was the first superstar cinema cowboy, Boxingthefox...gave John Wayne his first job building Western sets.
I think Bruce Willis and James Garner made a film about Tom Mix.
Heard of him Vel, don't recall seeing him,but remember Gabby Hayes and Hop along Cassidy. May god forgive me, whoever he/she might be.
Good god, Hopalong Cassidy was a role I played. Now I know when I went wrong. Triple-****.
bodil, I think I might have had a Sherger burger

William Boyd was Hopalong. Saturday morning cinema regular
A good thread
Though I was expecting a mention of Torchy the battery boy. Looks like this is it.

Sat morning flicks, were called the following uppers (follyinuppers) Dublin, because the was always a cliffhanger to entice you back next week.
Bad timing by Hopalong - 50 years later he would have been the leading actor thanks to affirmative action. I'm stunned by the range and variety of performers tonight - there's hope for us all. Sleep well princes and princesses.
Sadly due to the cut backs Torchy's light at the end of the tunnel was turned off.
I'll get me coat.

Many of you lot won't have heard of the cowboy called LOBEY DOSSER... and EL FIDIDO, his two legged hoss, as you are not Scottish enough. It was a genius comic strip by Bud Neill. You won't have heard of PAWNEE MARY either...
Lobey Dosser, what a fantastic name, I hope Cameroon doesn't read this or he will be on it in seconds!!!!
PAWNEE MARY was a classy play on words -- that is, PAWNEESE and PAWNEE (PAWN SHOPS)...might as well be discussing Hebrew puns circa 500 BC...it's a' waater under the brig noo!
Only found out yesterday that the author of Oor Wullie and The Broons was English!

bodil, on here it's like getting into a fight with a blood bank.
It's getting worse - now Julie Covington is singing Don't Cry For Me Argentina. Is this a sign they are going to invade (again) next week?
Now that is odd btf, dreamt something like this a few weeks ago.
And then something disappeared. And something else came back again.
Good job we're all serious, sober citizens.

My best friend has just written an account of his life from a Glasgow tenement to submariner (Diver)in the Falklands war to sailing the Atlantic single handed to America. heart wrenching stuff,
"Good job we're all serious, sober citizens." abssoullitily, well that what I say, sometimes never!!.
Goog night guys, great stuff.
