I've had numerous "Thai Massages" in Bangkok & Pattaya - all with a happy ending ;-) I don't think they cared what I was wearing ... Not to mention the "no hands bar" in Patpong ...Ooooh that was different.

I should add ...didn't mean to disrespect Thailand or the people - I love the place (been more than 20 times) ...the people are great, they love the British - they're so friendly - can be as cheap as chips, Hotels, eating out etc.. and some of the most fabulous Hotels in the World (Oriental, Shangri La) They even let me play in a band over there ...Ahhhh it's Eric Crapton !

Just love the whole experience akabula...the people, food, fun nights out (Patpong, Soi Cowboy, Nana Plaza) trips on a long tailed boat up the Chao Praya river to the snake show, breakfast on the terrace of the Oriental Hotel....when we come back to the UK - it's like coming back to the "dead zone".

Last time I was out there was 1987. Bunch of us took a two day train journey up from Singapore. Changed trains at KL & Butterworth. Padang Besar (Malay / Thai border) a most wonderful place.
Stayed in the Hotel Malaysia, Bangkok. Can't remember the place we stayed at in Pattaya.
Most beautiful, friendly, respectful, honest, happy, smiley people I've ever come across. No double entendre intended!
Like Ron says, the experience was amazing and coming back through Heathrow customs was like walking through the entrance to the Land of the Dead.
Sometimes makes me wonder why immigrants want to come here.

Taxi from one end of the city to the other is about £2 If you don't like the 'straight from the farm' girls you can play with a thai penthouse model for a £100 or so. You don't realise how friendly the people are until you come back to the UK and everyone's an awkward miserable ****

"If you don't like the 'straight from the farm' girls you can play with a thai penthouse model for a £100 or so" Of course when you pick them from behind the glass - you've no idea where they're from ...but a £100 quid ...Jesus Christ going rate in Pattaya B500 - 1,000 Baht (for short time) with a stunna.

It's funny I have always found the Thai's to be the least friendly, least welcoming people in Aisa.
As the first package holiday destination in Asia they have long since tired of their visitors. It is a magnet for perverts and n'err do wells from all over the world, so their impression of foreigners is fairly low.
I also find the Thai men rather macho and menacing. You daren't crumple a bank note for fear of disrespecting the King, if you do the fists will invariably fly. Thailand is one of the few countries never to have been colonised by a European power and this lends itself to a climate of uncivilised lawlessness and political instability.
I'm all in favour of 'pay for play', but even I draw a moral line at an Uncle auction off his neices on a street corner etc etc.
If you like Thailand you will probably love most other parts of Asia.

Escrick is a splendid village, and I've done good business there for Charles Forbes Adams, and "Escrick Estates".
Have had a few meals at "The Parsonage" and a lunch at whatever the pub is called.

The problem with Thailand these days ...and Pattaya in particular - whereas in the past most visitors were in the age group 40+ (I've been going since 1988) - nowadays the "young dumbs" have started going there instead of Ibifa and Aya Napa etc ..and all they seem to want to do is go out get pissed be very loud do drugs and get into a fight ! British being the worst. All this totally contrary to Thai custom.
